Don't know if this feature is already available or someone has already asked for it but I would love to see a feature where files on an FTP account(UNIX boxes) can be compared. So you can have something like a file on a Windows box being compared with a file on an UNIX box or two files on UNIX box being compared(discounting "sdiff" command - it terminates text halfway)

With big hard drives now it's impossible to remember all the little changes you make to important files over time. This lets you compare any 2 files, or any 2 directories full of files (including all subdirectories). It's protected me from messing something up more times than I care to think about! :)
Of course, it's also got plugins that extend its usefulness. There're already quite a few, but I wish more people would write plugins... -

This program is absolutely correctly named. It is beyond compare. I use it to keep local and remote folders in sync and to keep software modules and even whole projects in sync. It is easy to use, reliable, quick, and effective. It has saved me many hours of work not only in making the comparisons, but in not missing anything.

Very easy to use, and powerful at the same time. I tried another program first, but this one is much better. You can customize what is being compared (eg. not compare file dates, as two computer's clocks often are not synched).

Wow, there's nothing that Beyond Compare cannot do. Once you start using it, you'll question how you ever got along without it. In the days of 300Gb HDs, we all have more files than we need. But if you're synching files between work and home, or desktop to laptop, Beyond Compare is an invaluable daily tool. It has an attractive, versatile, easy-to-use interface and no bugs, so there are neither glitches nor unexpected results. Contains a built-in editor with synchronized scrolling for virtually all types of files.
