"A Very Good Mac OS X Product."
Version: BetterZip 1.8.3
Pros
Supports Mac Mode and Zip Mode Compression. Works great with very large files that are compressed. Supports 256 Bit AES encryption so supports winzip encrypting.
Cons
Doesn't support creating 128 bit encryption files.
Summary
Betterzip Supports the average users needs to compress files in numerous formats. It is rock steady and has never balked at compressing very large files.
A great value for the price. -
"This is the one to get!"
Version: BetterZip 1.8.3
Pros
It works, has a GUI, shows you the contents of the archive first, lets you extract part of the archive - this is what it's all about. Simple, that's all I ask for.
Cons
No cons so far.

Get this one.

"Quick Feedback"
Version: BetterZip 1.7.2
Summary

Just a quick note - I downloaded BetterZip because I have a few archives collected I hated to delete, but were apparently damaged in some way. It turns out that in each case, where Stuffit 12 could not open the archive BetterZip could. Apparently in each archive there was a single damaged file . . . -
"Great Program"
Version: BetterZip 1.7.1
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
BetterZip is the ONLY program I could find that is fully compatible both ways with WinZip on a PC. So I can encrypt files on my Mac and bring them to my work PC, and decrypt them at work. Then I can encrypt files and work, zip them, and send them home to my Mac. I don't know of another program that does this.
The performance is nearly flawless, fast, and there are frequent updates, so support is great. I bought this program a long time ago, and I've always been very satisfied that my money was well spent.
Please keep on selling and supporting this little gem. -
"Wow!"
Version: BetterZip 1.5.6
Summary

This is one of the best application I've used in the last 6 months! After 1 hour of evaluating I buyed it.It gives you - among others - zip, 7z, bz2, rar for compressing (most of them with several levels), and all this in one, stable(!) application with an absolutely Mac-like GUI! It lets you browse and extract virtually all kind of compressed stuff.
Not to mention the BetterZip QuickLook component for Leopard ...
Thanks! -
"My new go to compression application"
Version: BetterZip 1.5.5
Summary

This is a great replacement for those that used to use StuffIt, however it really needs a double click option to extract compressed files in the finder and a contextual menu option to compress files without having to open the application itself.
Other than those small â??wantsâ?? this is an inexpensive all in one compression utility that handles nearly everything. -
"WinZip for Macs"
Version: BetterZip 1.3
Summary
This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I've used Mac compression apps for a long, long time. My first ever shareware registration was paying for Compact Pro through snail mail, and I've sinced used DiskDoubler/SuperDoubler, several versions of Stuffit and Zipit. For some time, I've wanted WinZip for Mac, and BetterZip comes pretty close to the ease of use and versatility of WinZip. It also reminds me of the bloat-free simplicity of Compact Pro. Definitely worth the money.
