CNET Editors' review
This set of system-enhancing tools walks a fine line between covering all of the bases and overwhelming users with too many options--not always successfully. Best Vista Tune Free offers a dizzying array of options for managing your PC's operating system, network, and utilities that might overwhelm novice users.
It doesn't affect the functionality, but we didn't care for the program's user interface. The bright blue-on-blue color scheme was hard to read. We also found a few misspellings, which is uncalled for in a program that requires payment. You'll find three categories: information, tweaks, and utilities. Each offers you a different way to manage your operating system, hardware, and network. As we browsed the program, it quickly pulled up all of our operating system and hardware information, including memory and CPU feature availability. It comes with tons of options for tweaking your hard drive, RAM, mouse, and CD/DVD. The utilities feature displayed all of Vistas utilities in one window. It gives you one-click access to the Registry editor, disk defrag tool, and program uninstaller.
We liked having everything under one roof, but with so many options, the 14-day trial wasn't long enough. We only recommend this diagnostic tool for intermediate to experienced users.
