"It takes time to learn to use it safely"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
The song library is rich.
The sharing tool is effective.
It exposes you to P2P network of BearShare that is wide.
Updates are pretty frequent and regular.
It is free.
Legally safe to use.Cons
It can harm your PC with malware if it is not duly protected.
The installation may affect the processing speed of your system.
Some unique songs may not be found on the network. It depends on chance indeed. If you find peers matching to your taste, it's good; else you may not enjoy it—especially for the offbeat genres.Summary
Having no protection against malware will be risky to use BearShare. But if you are duly protected you can jump into the ocean of music right away. For me it has served for last seven months well to cater to my needs.

"DO NOT DOWNLOAD THIS F'ING GARBAGE!"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
The one good thing about this software is that it's not on my computer anymore.
Cons
Loads all kinds of garbage on your computer that it doesn't tell you about beforehand and then makes it really difficult to remove it all. It also changes all your browser settings including changing your homepage and toolbars and then won't let you change them back.
Summary
Only download it if you like giant virus-like programs on your computer.

"Show as a virus"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
None. Avast anti-virus shows the install program to host a worm.
Cons
I can not and will not run this due to the chance it could have a worm or some other type of virus.
Summary
Not safe.

"Viral properties"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
You can download music and listen virtually to your music selections with the option to purchase for personal use.
Cons
In the event that you decide to remove the program from your computer the LLC makes it complicated. They have poor 'helpdesk' response time, and you are not given specifics as to how to manually remove the product.
Even after you remove the program from your system there are hidden files and cookies that you have to take the time to find and remove. In all honesty, it took me forever since I had no clue what to look for.
Remember to remove the toolbar from your browsers -- all of your browsers. When you delete one the cookies attach themselves to another. Its a nightmare.
Here's a thought...if you want to listen to music virtually use Jango, and if you want to download MP3's use Amazon.
Cheers! -
"The wost download service"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
There aren't any. They are the worst.
Cons
These people don't sell music for you to keep. They make you buy a license so that you can keep listening to music you have downloaded fro their site. It is easier to buy the cds from Amazon.
Summary
These people are ripoffs. They are stealing your money.
-
"Their music pro service is TERRIBLE"

"It is crap"

Summary

"they must have improved, eh?"
Version: BearShare 9.01
Pros
millions of hard to find tracks and complete albums. I found Happy the Man for crying out loud! HTM was not even on Limewire. For those that say there is little music, you must be looking for crap.
Cons
tool bar issue sucked but I had no issues with disabling it and I use Google Chrome. I have had to treat lots of cookies form BS but my antispyblocker cleans them every time.
Summary
Advice to most of you: Get a better spybllocker, anti virus and a damn good firewall. Seriously, this is NOT the devil. It's an angel with musical wings but you need to know what the hell you're doing. I downloaded 98 sindgs and 5 albums in about 2 hours. Paid for nothing. There are some tracks that are .99 that I want....so what. 95% of what I want is free.
