    "Full of spyware"

    by mrboo1 on August 24, 2006

Pros: Very good product if spyware doesnt come with it

Cons: Hey dude how do U feel if spywares dance before you in the system, Bearshare makes U agree for that if U gonna try their free version, because their interest for money they spoilt a master piece of work.

No use however good the software is if it gonna be coupled with adwares & spywares.

If U gonna remove the spywares from the software its not gonna function any more.

So no use even trying the software.

    Big Thumbs down.

    "What happened..."

by Corydory on March 8, 2005

Pros: let me just say I was a huge fan of bearshare (before I discovered Limewire Pro) and installed this to see what was new and if the program had improved over previous versions. I was not impressed...

Cons: Okay maybe this is bearshare's way of admitting that the program comes bundled with SAVENOW adware and actually insists you need to install this aswell (in the free version anyway) Well the pretty splash screen informing you of this doesn't make it any more appealing - Who the hell wants to be bothered with POPUPS when you are searching the net! let alone this adware/tracker watching your every move. Upon installation SAVENOW immediatly tries to access the net (even before you get the chance to open Bearshare!) Those with firewalls can block it - as I did - but just the fact it is present on my computer made me think twice about keeping Bearshare.

    Now comes the actual program.

    1. Slow to connect (if at all)

    2. Searches are slower than ever.

    3. Searches are sometimes QUEUED!

I uninstalled this ten mintues later, including the adware/tracker liking Limewire Pro even more...

"Do Not Download Unless You'd Pay For Music!"

by JoyceNgo on December 30, 2007

Pros: It was good a few years ago when the music/file searching was FREE. Couldn't find what I wanted on iMesh, so I gave this a try again (about two years ago, my Spy Sweeper found spyware on this program!)

Cons: This program lies. Although the P2P client is free, it lies about everything! I used to have it, and it was fast, free, and gave many search results. BearShare is now "legit" and only allows downloads of music and maybe videos. First off the music and videos ARE NOT FREE as they say. You download, listen for a few days, and then BAM, it says you need to purchase a license! They purposely tease you by letting you temporarily listen to their music!

Then the music, is unburnable, licensed, protected, and mostly .WMA files! So if you are searching for mp3's I do not recommend this product! It also asks you to install ridiculous adware-contained chat clients!

    "Do not bother"

    by ang2006 on April 17, 2007

Pros: As is none. There was a time when Bearshare was about as good as it got but no more.

Cons: Full of spyware and what you download cannot be burned in a program like Nero because the mp3 file is saved as a special Bearshare file. Instead of a music icon, you will have a bearshare icon which will "ONLY" play on your computer and will not work in your CD creation software. What use is the program then? I download to burn not just to sit at the computer and listen.
