"Nice idea, lousy execution"
Version: BeaTunes 3.0.11
Pros
- Accurate BPM
- nice interfaceCons
- Application crashed nearly every time, but worse than that, it crashed my laptop several times, resulting in a blue screen of death in Windows 7
- While it integrates with iTunes, its "color" and "key" information isn't accessible in iTunes
- Has no way of accessing and analyzing protected music (DRM)Summary
Seemed like a good idea, but unfortunately, it is a very, very unstable product. I wouldn't mind if it only crashed with no impact to other applications, but this IS NOT A WELL BEHAVED, WELL DESIGNED APPLICATION! Luckily, it didn't corrupt any of my music files (at least there isn't any evidence of it yet), but any application that seems to directly access protected memory is a serious NO NO.
I was searching for a BPM and Key audio application and I will say this. It's BPM analyzation seemed much more accurate than some other apps (namely VirtualDJ).
Also, as with all other applications, if you have any protected music, it cannot analyze them either. -
"What ? How"
Version: BeaTunes 3.0.3
Pros
Nice idea - shame it doesnt work very well. :(
Cons
Cannot get it to work. It takes forever to analyze your iTunes library and then - just crashes.

"Fun and effective"
Version: BeaTunes 3.0.2
Pros
The library inspection is fantastic. I have almost 30,000 items in iTunes, and all metadata now sorted. Moreover, the function to use online sources to correct genres etc. is beyond fantastic.
Cons
Can be slow with big databases
Summary
fantastic app for huge song databases

"Never get back this part of my life"
Version: BeaTunes 2.1.11
Pros
Estimates BPM for music, correctly even sometimes
Cons
Is usually wrong on BPMs. Screws up most of your metadata in iTunes
Summary
This is a terrible program. Terrible. I'll never get back the time in my life it took to fix all the metadata in my iTunes collection. I bought the program to make playlists for running, but it didn't do that right either. The BPMs are all over the place. DO NOT BUY.

"Impressive"
Version: BeaTunes 1.1.5
Pros
Simple to get started, inexpensive to purchase the full version, great for people who spend time organizing their iTunes music. I stumbled upon this while trying to make a mix cd - I needed something that would help me find the Beats per Minute [BPM] of my music. It will also make finding gym music playlists easier, imo.
Cons
It runs a little "heavy" (Not sure how to describe it other than the results of a click are not always immediately registered). That could be because I have over 4500 songs it's trying to analyze....

"Great iTunes library cleaner"
Version: BeaTunes 1.0.7
Pros
beaTunes comes with a 'Library Inspector', which goes through your iTunes music collection and finds discrepancies (wrong genre, typos, missing files). The kind of stuff that just happens when you (like me) have 25,000 songs and more. It then offers to clean things up for you. You have to confirm every change, which is good since there were some false positives.
Other than that, it analyzes your library for similar songs. Once the analysis was done (one time effort), it actually created some pretty good playlists for me.
All in all a very useful tool for anybody who likes to keep his library neat and is tired of creating manual playlists.
Cons
Analysis takes a while. The automatically created playlists aren't necessarily perfect.
