"Absolutely amazing accompaniment software."
Version: Band Minus One 2.0
Pros
There are a range of commercial accompaniment programs on the market, and one or two good freeware chord players, but Band Minus One has to be the best of all - and at a price that is stunningly low for what is on offer.
Simply by following a few simple protocols, you can type in a chord pattern, choose an accompaniment style and that's it. Nothing else to do. For example ------------> . Em | Am | D | C | G | A | Am | E | Em | D7 |A6 | E |{e}|
This is an example of what a simple chord pattern could look like. (The full stop at the start is important - that's one of the simple protocols that I mentioned). You can also include lyrics if you wish and synchronise the two.
A good range of styles (.sty format) are provided, but there are a host of others to download free from the software author or other websites.
So if you want a truly easy-to-use piece of software to generate accompaniments for you to sing or jam along with - then look no further.
----------
Oh - and if you want a program to enter melodies and lyrics with the possibility of karaoke style performance - look at the author's program 'Busker'. With that you also see the music being played on a few virtual instruments (eg: piano and guitar).
Cons
Make sure you read the installation instructions if you upgrade from demo to registered versions - these come in the email which gives you your registration code. Basically, you download just the upgraded .exe file and use this in the demo folder to replace the unregistered version. All is made clear in the instructions - but it can catch you out if you're not careful (I wasn't!!)
