Version: Backup Platinum 2.0 build 01.18.2006
Pros: Easy backups to FTP or other devices.
Good encryption.
Good file inclusion/exclusion.
Can run as a service.
Great versionings of files.
The best GUI of all the backups.
The best part is the easy way to see what files have been backed up, changed, or see errors.
Cons: Wish it had the ability to backup open files, it simply will skip them.
Differential backup would be a nice feature.

Pros: After reviewing a dozen backup programs to recommend for my clients, I came accross this one. It is simple, straightforward and it has robust tools. The scheduling is smart, it has built in compression, encryption, LAN, FTP, DVD burning...everything you need in a good app. There are some smart features as well, like logging in and verifying ftp credentials on the go to be sure that they work.
The support may be less robust, but you shouldn't need it as there isn't much to decipher. I have spent hours on the phone with the 'great' tech support of Dantz Retrospect only to get nowhere. This is a sure solution for someone who wants a backup app that does just what it is supposed to.
