"Not like real game"
Version: Backgammon Classic 7.2
Pros
The interface was the clearest I have seen. I find those fake wood on the backgammon sites distratcting. There were several settings that were higher constrast too.
Cons
The game requires you to play your higher die roll first sometimes. So where there is a blot 3 points away, and you roll a 3, 4 - unless you can play the 4 somewhere else, you don't get to hit the blot.
Summary
I wouldn't buy it because it makes you play the higher die first and that wouldn't happen in real play. I don't quite understnd the reasoning behind that, as it is not a rule in any backgammon game I have ever played.

"Disappointing"
Version: Backgammon Classic 7.2
Pros
You get to try for free so you realise it is best not to buy the game.
Cons
As previously mentioned, unlikely dice roll in favour of the computer. I also found the side bar hard to use.
Summary
Try for free to see what you think, but definitely do not buy before you try. I was disappointed.

"Worst case of biased dice rolling I have ever seen"
Version: Backgammon Classic 7.2
Pros
It set upi the board correctly
Cons
The worst part is the biased "random dice;" I was about 80% (79.8% to be exact after I started logging them) in guessing at least one die the computer opponent would roll. It was pretty much guaranteed to roll the exact number it needed.
Summary
Don't bother trying, much less spending your money, I am thankful there was a free trial, I would have been extremely upset if I had spent money. I was hoping for a game that used intelligence in the playing of the pieces to make it challenge, instead of relying on non-advantageous dice rolling.
To top it off, the interface is confusing, the right hand side kept changing whenever I wanted to use it, and the popups are useless in explaing the buttons. -

"Good looking, sleezy game play"
Version: Backgammon Classic 7.2
Pros
Visuals, options for 3-D
Cons
Cheats, side menus not great. Doubles cube rarely accessible when beating computer.
Summary
As other reviewers indicate, this game CHEATS. Statistically impossible rolls that hit you nearly all the time, but rarely allow you back in.
In one game, I needed a "one" to enter a piece, but after 14 rolls in a row I could not get my piece in! And doubles at the end? The computer always gets a run of doubles when bearing off.
Bottom line: Save your money and keep on looking. -
"Good graphics and design"
Version: Backgammon Classic 7.2
Pros
3D Graphics
Cons
This game is slanted to the computer! The computer will come up with the numbers it needs to bump you off the board 85% of the time. If you like frustration and losing...this is your game!
Summary
Good design...but this game is rigged to the computer...plan on winning maybe 30% percent of the time. It's ok to play to sharpen your game but the randomness of rolling the dice stinks. In close games plan on rolling lousy numbers, especially if you've been bumped off.
Just a review update on why this is NOT the game for you.
How CNET can give 3 stars is amazing. Play 100 games and then re-review!

This game will play you into frustration; not because you lose, but because it gets into a "mode" where it will defeat you by consistently rolling the dice getting every roll it needs to defeat you. IT DEFIES STATISTICAL PROBABILITY!!!
The game plays in "modes of play". For a while it will play normal. However as I said above it will get into a mode where it will defeat you defying the odds of the dice.
You will have the game and it will begin to j=hit every number to bump you of the board and then roll every number it need to lock you out. It will play in that mode for anywhere from 4-10 games.
It also will slow you down "getting home" by rolling low numbers so you can't catch up. Which will frustrate you. All you can do is play until it gets out of what I will call the invincible mode.
This game is not worth the money and I would advise you NOT to purchase it. Save yourself the frustration if you enjoy backgammon.
Updated on Apr 25, 2013Don't buy this game if you enjoy backgammon! This is "rigged" backgammon.
I really thought perhaps the game would be upgraded but it hasn't. The computer rigs the numbers on the dice to ensure it wins...it's not even close to realistic. It rolls consistently what numbers it needs to win which defies statistics.
Choose a fair game...not this one.
