    "Backblaze works great for me"

    July 23, 2009  |   By percusso

    Version: Backblaze 1.0.0.134

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I haven't had any of the problems experienced by others. Backblaze did take a while to back up everything on my 13" MacBook Pro (121GB took a number of weeks to upload). However it now works seamlessly in the background keeping all my files securely backed up. One thing that could be improved is the UI for stopping Backblaze temporarily (e.g if I'm using my expensive HSDPA wireless account). I have to go to System Preferences > Backblaze Preferences > Settings > Schedule > Only when I click <backup now> > OK > Quit. That's 7 clicks to turn it off, and another 7 clicks to turn it back on again. Besides that, I'm a very happy customer!

"It hides & keeps reappearing after deleting the program"

    June 5, 2009  |   By shoilc

    Version: Backblaze 1.0.0.138

    Pros

    I can't think of anything.

    Cons

It wasn't what I wanted so I deleted it, but twice since it has popped up telling me to back up where it appeared again in Application and System Preferences. Then I have to Restart in order to empty it out of the trash because it is still running.

    Summary

One you delete a program it should stay deleted. I can't find out where whatever it is that keeps reinstalling it is located. Each time, Spotlight shows me it is in Applications and System Preferenes only. You also have to look in Home-Library-Preferences and Library-Application-Support. Even that didn't get rid of it.

I guess I did it wrong. Instead of dragging BackBlaze to the trash you have to uninstall with the BackBlaze uninstaller which, since I never saw it and I didn't have it anymore, I downloaded from its web site. If that worked I shouldn't have a problem any more. In that case, I'll give it a much better rating.
