    "Do Not Bother!"

    August 21, 2010  |   By TonioLarabi

    Version: Back-In-Time 2.0.0b100816

    Pros

    I haven't used it...

    Cons

It is not a FREE download. They give you a trial, then you have to buy it.

    Summary

Unless you are in LOVE with Back in Time, don't bother. I bought it a while ago and never used it. Then, I get this "update" and learn that it is a new version, that costs money to upgrade. I used my original license and that gave me a 30 day free trial.

"This program is a top coat for Time Machine. Must have."

    November 28, 2009  |   By sbstrum

    Version: Back-In-Time 1.4.1

    Pros

I want to see all my backups at one time, not one date at a time as with Time Machine (TM). I also want to see my folders and files in a Finder format with a large window, not the small space-ship window view of TM. Back-in Time does this and more.

    Cons

The user manual has to be rewritten to clearly teach the user how to get the most out of this key app. A step by step manual with appropriate illustrations should be a piece of cake to write. Other than that, I find little to complain about.

    Summary

For me this application should be picked up by Apple and installed as a default program with every Mac. It elevates Time Machine to an incredibly useful tool.

    "Nice!"

    November 28, 2008  |   By Stephanie Mitchell

    Version: Back-In-Time 1.1.0

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
This is an indispensable complement to Time Machine. It's very feature-rich; it tells me pretty much everything I could possibly want to know about what's backed up and when. It's fast, and intelligent enough to know if Time Machine is messing around behind the scenes. The interface is nicely thought out, to my way of thinking.

The only suggestion I can think of for the next version would be a way to select two versions of a file and put up the meta-info for both (icon, file type, preview, create/open/mod/backup dates etc.) side by side. A diff function to compare two files would be the icing on the cake, but might be rather hard for non-text files.

    Nicely done!
