BIOSAgentPlus scans your computer to see which BIOS programs are up to date and which have updates available. After just a quick scan with this program, you'll know exactly what updates you need and what programs you don't have to worry about.

Pros

Quick scans: The scanning process this app goes through takes very little time. Almost as soon as you start the scan, you'll have your results, and you can start working on improving your system's performance.

Clear info: As soon as a scan finished, you'll see a list of all of the BIOS programs on your machine, along with icons indicating whether or not they're up to date. From that list, you can choose which programs to download and quickly complete the process with just a few clicks.

Cons

Pay for details: The free trial version of this app only provides you with the basic list of out-of-date programs. If you want more details about your system or the updates available, or if you'd like the ability to download programs straight from the app, you have to upgrade to the paid version.

Bottom Line

BIOSAgentPlus is a handy program to have on hand. It significantly streamlines the process of upgrading your BIOS programs, although it would be nice if there was a little more functionality or information available in the trial version. A full license for this app costs $29.95.

Editors' note: This is a review of the trial version of BIOSAgentPlus 2.2013.07.11.

"Do it Yourself, Save a Headache"

October 28, 2014  |  By NetBeezy

 |  Version: BIOSAgentPlus 2.2013.07.11

Pros

Identifies out of date drivers - kinda

Cons

Everything about the program

Summary

I bought the program one drunken night in an attempt to update 4 PCs without having to do all the busy work and installs myself... If you pay for the program you'll find out that the program doesn't do anything... After purchasing the program it scans your PC and lets you know which items are out of date. If you want to update these items you fill out a request form. Then they email you back with a link to just the bios update, something anyone can do on their own. Then you have to also install it on your own... For me, one of the PCs that was out of date and convinced me to buy the program was actually up to date and the other pc wouldn't accept the other bios emailed to me. All in all, its a total waste. If it wasn't for CPUZ I would have never made the purchase...

"deceptive hook line "Bios available" from eSupport"

February 28, 2014  |  By AmateurMe

 |  Version: BIOSAgentPlus 2.2013.07.11

Pros

finds many drivers that could be updated

Cons

Empty promise on Bios updates, you only find out there's nothing after you've paid.
Not free.

Summary

The situation:
4 computers: 1x Dell T3500 with win7 - OS now running on SSD, 1x Sony Vaio Z12 laptop with win7 - OS now running on SSD, 1x Sony vaio vgn-Fe31h laptop with win XP, 1x Lenovo Thinkpad X61 with XP.
The issue: I needed to know if a Bios update might allow the laptops to run stably on SSD. I didn't have time to search everywhere manually, I thought, but I knew one computer at least had a Phoenix Bios. So I searched the net: Happily, I came across the PhoenixBios website, with a link to eSupport with their BiosAgentPlus "free" software. Installed that on all computers, ran on all. Hurrah, said BiosAgentPlus, BIOS updates ARE AVAILABLE for all my computers! As well as various other driver updates, but BIOS update available is right there at the top. I really would not have expected that, as I had recently checked the Sony support site. Anyway, click on the download update link and ... you see it's not free anymore. $29 for BiosAgentPlus download access and a "FileCleaner" programme. Actually at a discount, apparently. Thanks, guys! Still, with 4 computers with BIOS updates, and all other drivers upgraded as a bonus, not too bad anyway! But first, ..proceed to checkout (equiv.) and oops!..an additional $10 is slapped on automatically for some registry cleaner that I didn't want or select, so back to unclick that well-meant option. Then, paid by PayPal. Then reran the BiosAgentPlus and requested updates for Bios for all 4 computers. I will obtain a link for download, the Software says. So, which might work? Which might not? The sobering answer: no BIOS updates were provided. The reply from eSupport: "BIOSAgentPlus located a BIOS update for a similar model of your computer. However, upon further review, our BIOS update team has determined that the BIOS version currently installed on your PC is the most up to date BIOS available." So, a scam? Oh, yes.. BiosAgentPlus also searches for updates to drivers for other computer hardware. On my systems, it suggested: 1) older intel storage drivers than those already installed, 2) an "updated" HD audio driver that killed audio on the Sony VGN-FE31H, and a device driver (for the same laptop) intended for a Dell system (needless to say, it didn't work).
My verdict: Save your money, keep your drivers up-to-date through the manufacturer's support sites, or download each driver from wherever at your peril. Either way, there is zero advantage to BiosAgentPlus. Stay away from eSupport.

Updated on Mar 4, 2014

Further developments: I contacted eSupport and requested a refund, and I was notified by Paypal two days after submitting the request of a full refund. That's much appreciated, but it would not have been required had the BiosAgentPlus software done a proper job in the first place.

"Free version is a waste of time."

November 27, 2013  |  By hyperdes

 |  Version: BIOSAgentPlus 2.2013.07.11

Pros

NONE AS FAR AS I CAN SEE!

Cons

Free version is a waste of time... it scans your machine, then links to a website. You think you might see some useful info about your bios etc etc? Not a bit of it. Just a request to pay before you can see ANYTHING useful! SUCKS BIG TIME! A CON.
