BBM lets you use your iPhone to connect with friends and colleagues through the BlackBerry chat service. You can connect to any other BBM users you choose, or you can invite people from your contact list to start using the app.
Message status: When you send someone a message through this app, you can see when it's been delivered and when it's been read. That way, you don't have to wonder if your message went through or if the person you sent it to has seen it or not.
Channels: In addition to the chat aspect of BBM you can also browse through channels created by other users or even create your own. Channel feeds contain all types of content depending on who created the Channel. Some of the popular Channels include those put out by the PGA Tour, CNBC, AccuWeather, and Rolling Stone, just to give you an idea of the types of content you'll find.
Exclusivity: While all of the chat and other features of this app are useful and work well, you can only use it to connect with other BBM users. If you don't have many connections with people already signed up or willing to sign up, you won't get much use out of it.
This is a great app if you frequently need to communicate with other BBM users. It runs smoothly, and the tutorial that opens when you start the app for the first time helps you get the hang of the interface quickly. The app is free, but there are some in-app purchases available, like packs of stickers for $1.99 each to use in your messages.
