"None better"
Version: Axialis IconWorkshop 6.62
Pros
This is simply the best creator, editor, viewer in icons and cursors out there. Why? Cause i own it and I'm a cheap bastard. I wouldn't have bought it if it wasn't worth it and you get a lot of freebies with it too. Icon libraries.
Cons
Leave the cons be.

"Great program! Creates icons perfectly. Easy to use."
Version: Axialis IconWorkshop 6.51
Pros
Easy to use and understand. Things are labeled great. Creates very nice icons, you can import images to creat icons out of or you can great one from scratch
Cons
I used the trial version so a lot of features are disabled, like better quality icons, etc. Not really a con but if you want to get the best looking icons and features, then you need to pay for the program.
Summary
I think this is a great program for creating your own icons. I was just trying to create an replacement icon for a program I use daily. I found a great image I wanted to use which was in .png format and just imported into this program and it took care of the rest. Really worked well.

"Makes icons, has flaws."
Version: Axialis IconWorkshop 6.3.3.0
Pros
Very easy to use, intuitive interface. Can make icons.
Cons
In Vista x64 failed to make any true Vista icons. Made only one size icons that can not be enlarged or reduced.
Summary
There is a much better converter called ToyCon icon maker - a fun to use freeware, available elsewhere on the internet. And, unlike Axialis, it did make true, resizeable Vista icons from any png file.

"Best Icon Editor"
Version: Axialis IconWorkshop 6.11
Pros
This is possibly the best icon editor on Windows, it has the cleanest most functional and consistent GUI and it offers the latest support for Vista as well as legacy systems as well as Mac OS. It's rich in automation, it's import and export features are extensive, it's just a pleasure to use. The infamous Microangelo doesn't hold a candle to this. I would only consider Iconfactory's Icon Builder as an alternative.
Cons
I can't seem copy and paste translucent graphics from Photoshop directly, instead I'm required to import/export. This is an extra step and it becomes bothersome. I'm not sure if this is a drawback from the Windows platform since I'm able to do this on OSX with other editors.
Where are the alpha masks? They are not easily visible and\or editable. That'd be my only major issue with this editor.
