This ActiveX control is for Visual Basic, Visual C++, Borland Delphi, Borland Builder, and any other environment that can host ActiveX controls and allows you to easily convert AVI (and other codecs), MPEG-1, MPEG-2, and WMF video files. The control uses a Direct Encode MPEG filter for DirectShow, and hence has the same blazing performance and reliability.

This garden-variety video converter takes care of its main job but doesn't offer anything we'd consider special. AxVideoConvert's gray interface isn't much to look at, but it is fairly easy to use, offering you simple check boxes for converting files among AVI, MPEG, and WMV formats. After selecting a file to transform, you can select from a list of audio and video compression codecs and specify output format. AxVideoConvert lets you determine video height, width, quality, and frame rate, but you won't find any extra features such as the ability to split or merge utilities. You can preview your output file during conversion, but since the window can't be resized, it shouldn't be counted on to produce truly accurate results. Still, if converting video files among a few formats is all you need from a program, this one is worth considering.

  "Incredible...but slow"

  Summary: This video converting device can change ANYTHING to ANYTHING. Even though it is slow, you can change videos in only about 3 clicks! You can even change the video quality. With this converter, I can make VCDs or DVDs with ease.
