"Number 1 in Free AV by vb100"
Version: Avira Free Antivirus 12.0.0.1199
Pros
Best interface so far for Avira.
No more Luke Filewalker win98ish scan window.Cons
No Web Guard.
No Persistent Cache check.
GUI is still kind of ugly in comparison to other free Av.
Scans still seem slower then Avast.
The daily popup that you must click on, even if firewall blocked, will interrupt anything you are doing, including full screen games.Summary
Cnet in the first Interface screenshot, Web Protection is white, but in all subsequent screens it is greyed out, as in not available. True it was offered at one time, but since then Avira has removed web protection from their free suite. Leaving AVG or Avast the only real option for total protection.

"Good virus protection, but too many popups for upgrade"
Version: Avira Free Antivirus 12.0.0.1199
Pros
Good virus protection apparently
Cons
Too many pop-ups advertising their upgrade or premium package.
Summary
I'm back to AVG Free which is about equal as antivirus with fewer ads.

"OK Except Zero Zero Day Protection"
Version: Avira Free Antivirus 12.0.0.1199
Pros
Free, best protection using signatures around.
Cons
Can't protect against new, zero day malware. Pesky popups to try and get you to buy their pay version. No firewall.
Summary
Add a zero day protection like Threatfire, Mamutu, or some type firewall for best protection.

"Avira Is OK if You Like Nag Screens"
Version: Avira Free Antivirus 12.0.0.1199
Pros
Prolly the best signatures in the business.
Cons
No zero-day protection, it's signatures only. Nag screens + adverts from people they sell their pop-ups to.
Summary
Great protection if you use it with Comodo Firewall. Too much ad-ware from Avira it's self.
Hey just_air - any AV that does not have a HIPS or behaviour blocker is bound to fail and what does Comodo have to do with Avira nag screens and popups?????
