"Best Free Antivirus with Highest Detection Rates"

    October 5, 2011  |   By musicman4you

    Pros

Has higher detection rates out of all the Free and many paid antivirus programs even if you don't install Avira's WebGuard feature with the Ask.com toolbar and doesn't slow your system down.

    Cons

    No cons for me.

    Summary

Avira's real-time protection is great without the extra Webguard.I noticed they don't force the WebGuard feature and Ask.com toolbar on users anymore. It is your choice but Avira in my opinion will still give you more protection than any of the other free ones and higher detection rates without the webguard.I have used Free and Premium versions in the past.Back when they didn't even have the webguard for the Free version dtection rates were better than all free and most paid Antivirus programs. This will not slow your computer down like Avast.Avast has way to many Shields running in my opinion.Avast does slow down older computers a lot because I used it on my other one with XP. No it doesn't have and email scanner but if you get a virus in an email Avira will still catch it quick.I do manual updates 4 or 5 times a day and most of the time there are updates.I would rather have a Antivirus running in the background with the highest detection rates than one with bells and whistles that even talks to you.I think it is great that Avira warns people if they have 2 Antiviruses running at the same time that can cause both of them to not run or work right.People shouldn't do that but many do.Many people complain about the pop-up advertising paid versions but when I do manual updates I just click OK in it goes away instantly so it doesn't bother me.For Free versions in my opinion it is the best and very light on your computer system resources. If you doubt my word about the highest detection rates you will find it on Google if you go to the right place.Kaspersky Paid is good also.

@ tomorow1 no doubt another Avast Fanboy.Avira doesn't need all those shields running.Oh and I didn't go give Avast a bad review by the way.Go look. But far as detection rates go #1 Avira #2 AVG #3 Avast.By the way don't go around calling me and idiot and a Dumb F_ _ _ _ R.Bet you wouldn't to my face.

Wow why is it always the ones with the high speed that are complaining, I have an old computer and I have no problems using avast. I have a pentium 4 processor and XP computer, I guess it must be the software that is conflicting. I had Avira and I loved it and I still do, and I always will.

@ Gold Dust I have DSL with Verizon and Avast slowed my older computer with a Pentium 4 processor and XP down a whole lot more than Avira.

I do not know what kind of connection that you have but I have a dial up connection and I have avast and I have no slow downs at all, and all of the shields are up and running.
