Version: Avira AntiVir PersonalEdition Classic 7.00.04.15
"Excellent, free anti virus application."
Pros: For a free anti virus application, it's outstanding. Some complain, that theres no email guard. For those, I recommend spending $27 dollars and getting the premium version. But this software is so effective at blocking all types of malware, email guard is not really necessary. Email viruses come in compressed and other email attachments, not in a written email. People should already know this and should be careful. If you try to download and open an infected email attachment, it will stop you in your tracks. It has the largest data base there is, runs light, though not real fast and is excellent at detecting and removing viruses, trojans, worms and even some spyware, It's also very user friendly. This is an exceptionally good, free anti virus application that runs great with "Vista" and "XP".
Cons: No cons at all with this application. This is the best, free anti virus software available.

Email viruses come in attachments, not script (written emails). If you try to download an infected attachment, it will be blocked with a quickness!

You can look at some other free AVs for that.
But talking about this shield, is it really necessary if you never use e-mail clients like Outlook and Thunderbird?
And another question, are there still ads that "haunt" users of this version to buy the paid version? I hope someone can help answer this question.
