This is a wonderful effective free antivirus program with great real time protection. For top notch protection I recommend combining this with the Bit Defender Free (or another free scanning engine) to run scans if & when you suspect a problem (not that you'll need it).
I've been running this for years and I love it. I'm glad to see it's finally getting the notoriety it deserves.
Cons
A window pops up when the program updates it's self, nagging you to get the professional version or their internet security suite. Click OK and it goes away.
This program is best for people with at least moderate understanding of how to work a computer. If you (or the person who normally administrates/uses the computer you're considering installing this on) can barely figure out how to operate even the most basic functions on your computer, this is not the program for you, nor is it a good choice for your tech-challenged grandma. People with extremely limited computer knowledge should stick with Advast Home Edition, however more knowledgeable users may prefer the additional options for customization Avira provides.

I am a nut when it comes to antivirus/malware protection so having good programs is a big thing. Avira antivir is the best out there It beats Avg 10 to 1 plus it is free but the thing is avira antivr free addition is as good if not better than the avg premium edition.
Cons
This is a good program but the only downside is that it can take from an hour to 3, but it is worth it becasue it can detect viruses avg has never heard of, plus it has a n extensive virus database which is updated automatically, although one other downside is that sometimes the auto update misfunctions and you have to manually fix it
