Version: Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus 9.0.0.407
"nag screen 7 diffcult to update"
Pros: off-hand, don't know of any
Cons: On boot have a nagscreen to switch to paid version.
Summary: The nag screen disappeared for a few days and restarted a couple of days ago. And no method to eliminate it from their setup info provided. Needless to say will switch to another program, probably this weekend, probably AVG 9 free.
Wouldn't update. In their forum found others had same difficulty and was provided with a fix that worked.
It's now updating automatically. The average person would not have my patience or simply wouldn't be aware that they weren't being updated, hence a huge risk.

Well, I've been using this program for quite a while and it has never put up a "nag" screen on boot up. When it updates, it puts up a window ad, asking you to consider buying the paid version. All you have to do is raise your hand and click the mouse button to remove it. Fancy dissing an excellent free program with a one star rating.
I grant you, if you want to update manually, its server is often busy and can't always update straight away. In that case, just minimise it to the system tray until it gets round to you. Otherwise it updates automatically during the day anyway. -
If you do not like the nag screen than go here ( http://www.wikihow.com/Remove-the-Popup-Ads-in-Avira-Antivir ) and stay away from AVG it is not as good as Avira.
