Version: Avira AntiVir Personal - Free Antivirus 9.0.0.407
"Great Antivirus at ANY Price"
Pros: It's free, easy to use and understand, runs (mostly) quietly in the background, and does a great job. It has stopped countless files, sites, etc. from harming my computer.
Cons: Occasionally the "nag" screens that pop up after the software auto-updates will interrupt what you're doing, but this is infrequent and a small price to pay for top notch (and free) protection.
Summary: This is absolutely a great program. I've used all the Nortons and McAfees and everything else out there, and AntiVir provides the same (if not better) protection, all while working quietly in the background (except for the occasional "nag" screens after it auto-updates). It has protected my last 3 computers without fail, and I've always done a lot of surfing, downloading, and P2P software using. The fact that this software is free is amazing, as it would be a bargain at whatever price the "big boys" are charging.
