"Crashing Outlook"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.545
Pros
Pricing was great.
Sandbox looks interesting - haven't figured it out yet.
Footprint seems small.Cons
It is constantly crashing my Outlook 2007. Client's also have issues.
Doesn't seem to matter the OS - Windows 7, XP, Vista - all have same issues.
I hope a fix is forthcoming...
I've had to disable the mail shield.Summary
If the Outlook issue can be resolved, I'd definitely recommend it.
Never had issues with version 4.8. -
"What all antivirus software should strive to be like"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.545
Pros
+ Fast and lightweight
+ Persistent cache allows for faster subsequent scans
+ Excellent detection rates by independent research tests (www.av-comparatives.org)
+ Very customizable
+ Got it at a great price ($59 for 3 PCs for 2 yrs at www.avast.com)Cons
- If a virus/malware is detected the scan is paused until user action is taken as opposed to continuing to scan (I haven't experienced this, only read it in a review)
- You have to restart the computer to update the program (very minor inconvenience)Summary
I did a lot of research before buying an internet security suite. I read reviews, checked independent research reports (av-test.org, av-comparatives.org, virusbtn.com), checked performance tests, and downloaded trial versions. I wanted to make sure that the software I got was 1) Excellent at proactive detection of viruses and malware, and 2) would not hinder system performance. Please note that I did not take into consideration a suite's firewall, parental controls, and protection for email based clients (although I can say that Avast's firewall is very nice indeed). After doing all the research here is how I would rank the suites that I was looking at:
1. Avast Internet Security/Antivirus Pro
2. Norton Internet Security 2010
3. Avira Premium Security Suite
4. ESET Smart Security 4
5. Kasperky Internet Security 2010
6. G Data Internet Security 2010
In the end what really sold me was Avast!'s detection rate and how simple, uninstrusive, and lightweight the software is. I have been without antivirus or security software for years because of how clunky, bloated, and slow they make my system, but Avast! has really done an excellent job in this area.
To top it all off, let me share how pleasantly surprised I was at how easy it was to upgrade from a trail version of Avast! Antivirus Pro to the full version of Avast! Internet Security. After I purchased Avast! Internet Security I thought I would try using the license key on my trial version of Antivirus Pro because I didn't really need the firewall or email protection to my surprise the license key not only worked, it even automatically downloaded an update to change my software into the Internet Security version! That just goes to show how well they programed the software! -

Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.545
Pros
Not much so far
Cons
difficult to load, imposible to get meaningful help fast and THEN one is asked to PAY - what next ? Never again unless the year I have paid for is GOOD
Summary
I want help when I want it that is easy to find and obtain sensibly - and NOT pay even more. I dislike yiour anonymity and I dislike your money grabbing because you cannot help over the installation sensibly and clearly ( sic )

"Best and worth paying for, not as boggy as most"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.545
Pros
This program is worth paying for, my suggestion is to download avast free first and upgrade to this program that way 50% off. The firewall quickly learns and is easy for people who do not know much about computers. Its very stable.
Cons
Nothing comparing to Trend, Nortons, AVG, kapskerky,
Summary
I have tried many over the years, wasted $130 on trend micro couple of years ago when upgraded to vista service pack 1 failed to work and trend was blaming Microsoft, their better team was going to give me another 12 months after I told them I would never trust their product again. Last year I used mac fee for I brought for 2 weeks, was hopeless.
If you pay a lot of money you for a premium product you expect it to work and not crash and tech staff who listen to you rather than talking down to you like trend.
I have used Avast anti virus for years over all, and never had a issue with it. If you are going to install this product make sure you remove other anti virus programs and anti spy ware programs first.
Using this programs you need nothing else. Steer clear of Kapaskey it uses too many resources I had tried that one before putting this one on the computers last week took over 3 hours to do a complete scan, and avast internet security under 40 mins for a full scan, alot faster than their old 4.8 interface.
With the ever increasing amount of scams and internet fraud and attacks these days, you are better of with full comprehensive security, and I really highly recommend this product over anythings else. Its the most stable one I have found for years. Worth every cent, don't be ripped off buying any others that promise to work, in the end they are unstable and do not do what they say. Stick with avast that has one of the highest reputations in the whole world, do not be fooled by those rogue websites that highly recommend some programs, because the company has paid them more to be on top of the list. -
"EXCELLENT EXCELLENT EXCELLENT"
Version: Avast Internet Security 5.0.545
Pros
The best Internet Security out there.
Cons
None that I can think of.
Summary
Very easy install. Runs very quietly in the background. Very effective. Found 1 Trojan and a virus AVG missed. Then it cleaned them out.I love the vocal notifier (female voice) that lets you know if threats are detected. Defiantly worth it. GETS THE JOB DONE!!!!!
