Version: Avast Home Edition 4.7.942
"I love Avast because it is nice and superb!"
Pros: Avast! Home Edition will keep your PC free from viruses. It will not bother you all the time. Just install it and forget it. It just works! Believe me, I have used this program for two years and I have never had any trouble. It is extremely stable. I have downloaded and checked my PC with other security software and checks such as Symantec, BitDefender etc but they never found anything, this because of the fact that Avast had already done the job!
Be aware! BitDefender 9 was supposed to have a better detection capability than Avast but what it did was to attack other programs which were none viruses. I have paid for BitDefender 9 but I use Avast instead, this because I want the best protection from viruses, but I do not want protection from using the programs which I want to use!
Avast! Home Edition is not a dull program like other antivirus software. It has a lot of skins to choose from.
Do not use Avast with ZoneAlarm firewall. It will crash your PC. Why this is so I do not know. Can it be that Zone Labs wants to sell their antivirus software?
Avast is quite light on memory.
Avast! Home Edition is free!

I use this anti virus but it's not perfect. I don't recommend two on the same machine but their is a way. In general, I cant stand "Norton" security products (difficult to uninstall) but the free, "Norton Security Scan" that cones with "Googlt Pack" is great and updates often (no issues at all). I installed it and on the first scan it found the following,
Resolved Threats:
Bloodhound.W32.EP - Virus ID: 1896 Risk: High
Categories: Heuristic
State: Deleted
Avast missed this! LOL! No AV is perfect and this is a way to get a good backup scanner for free that is not recognized as having two installed. My comp is well again and much faster. I think everybody should try this.

I've known abour "Avast" for a couple years. Great program In fact I like it so much I upgraded to the pro version for the extra shield. I own a copy of "Zone Zlarm Suite" but have opted for "Avast", Comodo Fire Wall: and a couple of paid anti-spy apps. Havn't han an infection since changing. I am also glad to see someone write a helpful review. Keep it up. I voted all of your reviews helpfull on programs I am familiar with and left the others out!

I have been using Avast for a couple of years now together with ZoneAlarm and it works fine. Maybe there is something in your configuration that makes them incompatible.
This is a good piece of software and I am using it on 3 separate compputers without any problems.

Before downloading Avast advises removing Norton Anti Virus because of potential conflict and destabilization of the OS. Did you experience and conflict?

I installed Avast! on my computer and it found 2 viruses in my system restore that Norton, AVG, The Shield, Ashampoo Anti-virus, and Windows LiveOneCare missed. It also found some malware. Great program! I did have ZoneAlarm installed and have since uninstalled it. My computer was crashing and freezing. I thought it might have something to do with Zone Alarm. After reading your comments I guess I was right. Too bad. I really liked ZoneAlarm but I like Avast! better. Thanks. Nina
