First of all its free with no pop ups and advertisements... Second its effective - my friend had a major problem with some viruses and its the only tool that managed to disinfect his system... And here comes the best: whenever you start up the program it automatically scans your start up and memory system for viruses! Very few antivirus tools can do that! Use it. You will not regret it

i have been using this program for over a year now...i have NEVER gotten one virus...NEVER!!! if youre about to enter a site that is malicious, Avast will detect it and prevent you from entering that site...you also get an intergrated scan tool to scan individual files. i will use Avast until the day i die!!!!!!!!

doesnt include script blocking like the pro version does. but oh well...

I found Avast an excellent antivirus, providing various degrees of protection for virtually every task, from web surfing to e-mail and instant messaging. It works very well with explorer/outlook but also with Mozilla/thunderbird/firefox latest versions. It works in background and is not too heavy.

Automatic VPS database updates, it has intercepted the latest viri in the wild, as well as detected undesirable inbound interlopers. I have recommeded it to everyone I know and am enthusiastic about doing so. In my experience, side by side with the others this has come out head and shoulders above them.
