"avast works so well and it's FREE"
Version: Avast Home Edition - Free Antivirus 4.8.1368
Pros
The avast program picked up ad, spy and malware that slowed down my PC. McAfee (what I used before) NEVER DID! If your PC slows, freezes or is just downright frustrating, could be your anti-virus software! Try avast; if you like it, it's still free!
Cons
The only thing I can possibly say are good things about the avast home edition-honest.
Summary
I really appreciate that when it scans, it actually detects items you may not want on your PC. It also gives you the tools to remove the items you don't want. There is a very easy-to-understand display explaining what the scan detected, what it means, and whether it may be harmful.Shows yo what to do to get rid of annoyances to high-risk ware! Easy as pie...Thank you!

"Best AV software I've used so far."
Version: Avast Home Edition - Free Antivirus 4.8.1368
Pros
Free, Non-intrusive,
Cons
UI could be polished a little more.
Summary
Avast AV has been the best AV software I have used. The On Access Scanner is light on your resources and doesn't bother you unless there's something wrong. Updates are provided not just for Anti-Virus definitions but also the program itself, which is pretty neat. I'd highly recommend this software.

"SAFE & AMAZING DOESNT SLOW or STOP YOUR PC LIKE OTHERS!"
Version: Avast Home Edition - Free Antivirus 4.8.1368
Pros
It works quietly in the background, it does not bog down your computer or slow it like some others. Yes, it is a bonus the home edition is free too, I have recommended Avast to friends who seem to have viruses or trojans and AVAST clears them away.
Cons
There was/is nothing I didn't or dont' like about this product.
Summary
You will not regret downloading this product, and neither will your computer! :) I t really will take care of your current problems. It scans your pc, and each user log in account, so if you feel your kids have downloaded something, it will scour their user name as well...interesting to see which user has the most trojans, worms or viruses, then at least you know who the culprit is and you can educate them on the rules of the web.

"Where are the reviews?"
Version: Avast Home Edition - Free Antivirus 4.8.1368
Pros
This is a comment on the fact there are no reviews here.
Cons
Not one consumer review? Over 11,000 ratings but not one review?
Summary
I'm starting to be concerned that cnet is being a bit manipulative in promoting certain software and making it difficult to note adverse consumer complaints. While many products are endorsed by cnet, it's often the consumer reviews that help make up my mind. Of course many consumer reviews are placed by the manufacturer, but when there have been so many downloads as with this product, and the reviews are nonexistent, I tend to think there may be some deception involved. Sorry to be flaming about it here, but there's been 64 million downloads and not one review? seriously, I don't think so....
