My computer has been infected by devastating viruses twice under the broken umbrella of avast.
Summary
This failed to protect my computer and personal files from viruses. On both occasions by the time I realized my computer was infected it was too late to salvage and I was forced to reformat and reinstall windows, too much of a hassle. I switched back to AVG, it never let me down in the past, I only switched because I read an article that boasted Avast to be better than AVG, not true.

Appears to working correctly although not had any problems trojans or virus problems.

The one thing you don't say is the cost of sending the text & receiving for the activation code, unless it is very small print at the bottom of the page YOU NEED TO TELL PEOPLE THEY WILL BE CHARGED FOR THE SERVICE. It cost me over £3.00 plus vat

Update/registration reminders can be annoying; they're huge and disappear before you've had a chance to react
Summary
Avast! installs and is configured easily. It can be a bit tricky to work out what they're on about with providers but eventually it clicks into place. I have a particular aversion to anti-virus which pushes updates to you because it's a b****y nuisance and never seems to work right. Avast! doesn't do this.
I've tried McAfee, Sophos and AVG and think that for home use Avast! is the best; certainly for Windows. -

It is excellent, does not slow down my computer, it seems to find viruses and trojans which McAfee didn't find (I HATE McAfee!), does a great job updating, and scanning is very good, highly recommend you download this!

it is very good to use, it does not take you long for you to get used to Avast! It does a EXTREMELY better job then McAfee and it is free, this shows that not al products you buy do a great job as this one, don't get McAfee, i got a load of Trojans and it didn't detect them at all! Thanks to Avast it saved my computer from a Rogue Antivirus, I HATE THEM! lol. No nagging popups telling to upgrade or anything, it only takes a simple registration on thier website to get a full year protection, even if you did not register it you will still have a full 60 days to use it so no worries! If you are looking for an excellent antivirus, then go for Avast! Home Edition, it will serve your computer well.

It is good for free so long and work very well on detecting the virus coming, according to my experience it does not slow down the PC too much I set the settings mode to let me know what files does it scans

requires very little attention, it talks, it doesn't slow down my old laptop, and it's free.

What i don't like about Avast......... i don't like the fact that it doesn't come pre installed on every PC.
Summary
Avast is a trustworthy antiviris program. I've been using Avast since late 2007 after Norton let me down for the last time(PC crashed with somewhere around 140 threats and 4 trojans). Since the switch to Avast i haven't had any problems at all. If you have Norton right now, download Avast and see just how many things Norton didn't even detect that's on your PC right now. even if you are using any other anti-virus program, at least try Avast just to see how your own anti-virus programs are handling your virus threats.
