    "Do NOT install current version on Windows 7 Machines!!!"

    Pros

    Older version is rock solid. Runs seemlessly in the background. Good on resources. FREE!

    Cons

    New version crashed (2) windows 7 computers - a Dell and an hp. Unknown if due to hardware/software conflict errors but these computers locked up completely. Appears to operate in XP.

    Summary

    Why do companies release products that haven't been fully tested. I know it's free but my time to troubleshoot isn't. Hope they correct the flaw.

    Pete.

    I am a PC techhead who runs his own business so I hope I can assist you with your issue.

    Some purchased PC's now come preinstalled with Microsoft Security Essentials ( Microsoft's attempt of an anti-virus program).

    I am pretty much certain that you have downloaded Avast and installed it on machines that have MSEssentials already installed. BIG problems mate....you will get major conflicts and have complete lock up of your system.

    Remove MSE or any other A.V for that matter then install Avast..all the best.

    Lol.............I love people such as yourself. Avast is the best free antivirus when it comes to detection rates and lightness. I am an IT Pro and have installed Avast on over 500 clients machines. NO issues and most of them are Win7. Did you FULLY remove your existing antivirus?
