    "This is by far the best freeware antivirus I've seen!"

    Pros

    It's a smooth runner, even on a slow pc. I don't remember it giving me any false positives. It did detect every single virus I caught during the past several years of using Avast! It's free and doesn't use nag screens massively to convince you to go pro.

    Cons

    None for the price...next to none whatsoever.

    Summary

    I've been using the free version of Avast! on my home PCs for several years and never had any virus-related problems. Even though I gave a thorough try to the competitors (namely -- AVG and MS Security Essentials) I came to a conclusion that Avast! really is by far the best freeware antivirus. Futhermore, I like Avast! better than the KAV that is installed on my work PCs.
