    "A nice program"

    Pros

    Free, regularly updated. Strong detection engine. Best overall protection program out there that is "free" (unlike AVG). Resource usage plenty low.

    Cons

    WebRep not the "best addon" (but things can be ironed out). Latest version very round in protection, but minor issues here and there - not for everybody.

    Summary

    As a long user of Avast (since 4.8) and also one that has used other "freebies" before (like AVG, Avira...) I am impressed with Avast (especially since version 5.) It offers a wide variety of "defense" against malware and viruses - sandbox, multiple "shields". Best of all, it does not hog resources, something these programs tend to do nowadays with heavier load on the engine and added modules. The WebRep utility is coming in like the popular WOT addon, but still has some flaws that I hope can be ironed out in upcoming updates. It is free (provided you complete free registration) and ever since my computer has been safe and sound.
