"Like a Virus itself!"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
It requires secure Internet activation after installed making it by far the safest application to not get protected and not be able to simply use it on various PC's.
Assured you that your PC is Safe before even using it because it takes 5 minutes of internet connection to register for an account and 2 hour for updates. If this process fail, damn right viruses is in your system!
Reminder of Yearly renewal of license makes you feel secure if you are absent minded and rich.Cons
Fancy unlabeled graphics clouded the maze like interface, making you wonder am I Stupid or I does not understand what it is for?
Constant Notification pop up on application failure can be changed and critical error will gets its way to the end user no matter what happens! Making it a far more better application to not to kept than a Virus file that annoys you.Summary
An application that resonates idiocy in protecting your system when you does not need it when you needed it.
If you get it installed, good for you, If you can't go AVG! -
"Not very good but i started using it"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
-light
-wide plethora of settings
-regular updates
-decent web blocking
-s3xy interface
-s3xy women's voice (virus database has been updated,threat detected.)Cons
-mediocre removal and detection
Summary
If this is so mediocre, why do you use it?"you ask.
To be perfectly honest, I am the kind of person who won't get a virus even without an AV running unless my system is targeted by secret agents.
I use it because it is perfectly compatible with my favorite firewall- emsissoft online armor free.
AVG has better detection than avast but poorer web blocking.
Comodo internetis far superior probably on par with many paid suites barring kaspersky and bitdefender but it is quite annoying to use.
Avast won't do much to protect you if you're not conscious online so keep that in mind.
for the smart, computer savvy people, you'll appreciate its lightness.
Also, helpful tips.
click on Avast icon on desktop or taskbar->real-time shields-> FILE SYSTEM SHIELD->expert settings->sensitivity->make the heuristics sensitivity to high->tick mark PUP and suspicious files->press OK.
Repeat the above process for Web Shield, P2P Shield,IM Shield.
This will use the maximum detection capability of Avast! which unfortunately isn't that great.
Another tip- download bitdefender trafficlight for whatever browser you're using and use a good firewall. Comodo firewall or Online armor free are good choices. Comodo's free firewall comes with defense+ and Online armor's comes with anti-keylogger,program guard.
If you have the money though, buy bitdefender IS or Kaspersky IS not the full price but the ones sold for discount at amazon. -
"The only Antivirus that meets my needs."
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
Offers a lot for a freeware, and it's very light on my system. I've been using it since 2006 since I ditched AVG, and tried several AV's, but I always end up with avast, since its free, and probably the best free antivirus. I also think it's very customizable because of its settings, and I can get to choose which protection shield gets installed.
Cons
None that I would think of.

"Domination"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
This is by far the best anti-virus protection ever made.
Cons
I do not see anything wrong with it, the only thing that annoyed me was the voiced over updates, but they can be turned off.
Summary
The best anti-virus program available and at one of the lowest prices for the pro edition.

"Better than the throat forces i.e Norton etc."
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
Innovative, light on system resources, neat GUI and all round tight package.
Cons
None that I have discovered yet. No A.V is 100% fail safe. Make sure you have another program like Spybot or Malwarebytes to scan manually on a fortnightly or monthly basis.
Summary
I am a PC techhead who runs his own business so I hope I can assist people with a common issue.
Some purchased PC's now come preinstalled with Microsoft Security Essentials ( Microsoft's attempt of an anti-virus program).
Don't download Avast and installed it on machines that have MSEssentials already installed. BIG problems ....you will get major conflicts and have complete lock up of your system.
Remove MSE or any other A.V for that matter then install Avast..all the best. -

"avast "Free" Antivirus"
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
It's FREE and it does what I need to do during the short time I'm on Windows and need an AntiVirus program as my main systems are Linux based (Linux Mint 13, Ubuntu 12.04) and do not require antivirus programs.
Cons
Another software we are made to believe we "need" to buy or use.
Summary
Why settle for just Windows when Linux gives you a House?
Correction: "It's FREE and avast does exactly what I need it to do during the short time I'm using Windows"

"Worst, anti-virus PROGRAM, EVER."
Version: Avast Free Antivirus 7.0.1456
Pros
NOTHING MAN, NOTHINGGGGG.
Cons
Overprotective, making it so you cannot even VIEW Google, Freaking Google man!
What a hog
Freezes up
Might as well just switch back to vista.Summary
In conclusion, this used to be good, until THIS came, now it's pretty much like the jerk child of Spysheriff and Winfixer.
Meaning that it pretty much turned into a rogue program, note to self, never EVER install this, it's a pain in the arse to uninstall, it pretty much renders your system useless, if this was tested in a virtual machine, these results would come up, the same on a physical computer.
Good day, now bye bye.
