  "Avast 7 crashing my comp"

  Pros

  it's hard to talk about "pros" when a program crashes your comp at least twice a day.

  Cons

  crashing my comp - Running Windows XP SP3

  Summary

  Ran earlier versions of Avast without a hitch - loved it. But this version was problematic right from the start. Crashed my comp at least twice every 24 hours and lost my restore points at the same time. I had no viruses or trojans. Took me 3 days before I decided that Avast 7 was the problem. I un-installed, ran CCleaner, and reinstalled an earlier version of Avast (5) - NO MORE PROBLEMS!
  
  If you're running Windows XP SP3 be careful with this program.

  "Horrible customer service."

  Nothing good to say

  Cons

  The program would knock me off the internet every time I tried to get my mail. I asked for help and was told yo delete the program and reinstal. When that didn't work I was told "Sorry we can't help you".

  Don't buy it and expect help if something goes wrong.

  "Version 7 warning"

  I haven't got any viruses (I think)

  Cons

  Since trying the version 7 upgrade my computer locks up at load and needs uninstallation of Avast from safe mode to fix, (I have tried this twice and an upgrade from version 5 once). I am curently back to using version 5 and looking for other software. As the above reviews state, no answers from Avast, not even acknowledgement, far cry from earlier days, has there been a change of ownership?
  Also extremely annoying is the inclusion of Google Chrome, with no option not to install and no mention of it's inclusion. Am I alone in thinking this is completely unacceptable?

  "Once upon a time it was good....not anymore!"

  None at the moment as it doesnt work on my system.

  Cons

  Locks up system so cant use PC until Avast has been unistalled.
  No email response from the technical team.

  Summary

  Locks up my system since I updated Avast with the last release 7.0.1451 . Had a terrible day from early morning until 1.30 am the next morning trying to resolve problems with my PC. I realised it was Avast after remembering it had prompted me to update to latest version. On booting my PC it would only get as far as the password login page and then it would just hang doing nothing. I then opted to boot in Safemode and this worked for me as Avast wasnt running in Safemode. Once I had realised it was Avast I began to look for a fix but to no avail so decided to uninstall. After uninstalling Avast my system ran perfectly and much faster which was rather refreshing as it has been sluggish since began using the new version of Avast sometime ago (before the latest release that jammed my system entirely). I thought it might be worth re-installing Avast and give it one more go and this time I was able to boot my computer but I couldnt use Internet Explorer or Adobe Photoshop but I could use Thunderbird and Chrome, which allowed me to surf the internet and look for fix etc. I tried to contact Avast but have not received a reply so assume they maybe snowed under with complaints. I have had to uninstall again and am now using another Antivirus software program as I have to get back to work. This whole saga has wasted a lot of time and it would have been nice to see an announcement on the Avast website so all those affected were aware they working on a fix. I have experienced a problem once before with Avast about two years ago and this was rather annoying but it was fixed quite quickly but now I am experiencing another problem Im not so sure I will want to use Avast again.

  "simply the best"

  1.very fast scans and updates
  2.faster than the older verions and much improved from the previous version
  3.has all the neccesary shields and some extra ones(p2p shield....)
  4.webreputation much much improved
  5.less resource usage
  6.script shield work great for chrome for all those who say that the script shield is not integrated into chrome

  Cons

  no problems at all if you go through the setup slowly and carefully and if you set it up in a good way and not mess with the settings if you dont khnow what your'e doing.
  i noticed that DANNY101 complained of the chrome browser, well he didn't go through the setup carefully, where he couldv'e simply unchecked the chrome box when he doubleclicked on the setup to tun it!! i have not passed by the lck pc up thingi and the crash thing on both my 8 gb ram laptops and 12 gb ram desktops.

  it's really good if you know how to set it up and it can really protect you pc's and desktop's.

  "7.0.1451 update crashed Windows 7 Home Premium"

  The 7.0.1451 crashes Windows 7 Home Premium on my PC. Symptom: try to launch any program after startup and the system locks up. After several shutdowns/restarts, I found that the only thing I could do was right-click on the Avast tray icon and disable all shields "until computer is restarted." Once I did that, everything seemed to be OK. So I ran Revo Uninstaller to uninstall Avast, restarted, installed AVG free antivirus, and now everything is back to normal. Since doing that I went to the Avast Free Antivirus forum and saw this in response to a similar complaint: "there have been some issues with the 7.0.1451 release which may be resolved later this week." I resolved my issues with Avast this morning.

  "Keeps locking up my computer..."

  If I leave my computer for 20-30 minutes the whole system locks down and tells me to enter my administrator password. Unfortunately, it doesn't unlock when I do...so I have to restart my computer. If there isn't a fix Avast will have to go bye bye!

  The reason I blame the updated version of Avast for this problem is because my computer worked great yesterday until I updated the Avast program and now...it is crapping out.

  Computer is running great! I removed Avast...
  I have been a fan for many years...might go back as Avast has been good and has given me great FREE protection. Would like to stay a loyal customer but not when it makes my computer unusable. Please fix it soon.

  "Installs Malware-Chrome W/O permission!!"

  Always liked this free anti-virus program, But latest update included GOOGLES "Big Brother Eye"- CHROME- without an option of Opting out- BEWARE! If it was there, it flashed by without time to see it!!!
