The ongoing battle for Web browser supremacy leaves many Internet users confused about which one to use: Internet Explorer? Mozilla Firefox? Or Google Chrome, the current top browser? You can have all three with Avant Browser, a feature-packed free browser that incorporates the latest rendering engines of IE, Firefox, and Chrome, and lets you switch among them. Avant uses multiprocessing to keep one crashed or frozen tab from crashing the whole browser, and it's frugal with memory. It also offers optional free online storage for your bookmarks and other browser data. It offers tons of options, including the ability to enable AdBlocker and disable scripts, Java, ActiveX, and more with single clicks. Avant also boasts a Split View feature; customizable Mouse Gestures; a detached, always-on-top tab; and sidebars for bookmarks, history, feeds, and more.

Avant's attractive interface has just enough differences to stand out without being radically different from other browsers. The new Aero Glass theme supports all Windows 7 display advances and adds a few of its own, such as a hotkey-capable full-screen view that shows the browser toolbars when you mouse over them. The File, View, Tools, and other menus each offered some of the most extensive selections we've seen, such as a Clear Records submenu that let us clear 11 different browser caches or clear them all at once. When you first launch Avant, a pop-up lets you sign up for the optional Web-based data storage feature, a process that involves entering an email address and password. This feature lets you access your bookmarks and personal data from other locations. The browser lets users block Web site features that can cause sites to load slowly or crash, such as Flash animations.

Clicking Default Rendering on the Tools menu shows four options: IE Standard, IE Compatible, Firefox, and Chrome. We started by comparing Avant's Chrome engine with standalone Chrome, our default, and then to Firefox and both IE versions. Avant ran as fast as the standard browsers. Chrome still rules in either version, but the latest IE and Firefox engines are catching up. We could also set each browser engine's options separately.

"Prone to crashing&when it does it crashes your computer"

    April 19, 2014   |   By AspieMum

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2014 build 002

    Pros

More than one browser in one browser. If the page doesn't work in say Firefox you can easily re-load it in IE or chrome.

    Cons

Ever so often it crashes. When it crashes your computer freezes. You use control Alt Delete & then all options just give you a black screen. Only way out: turn off with power button- that broke my laptops wireless adapter on one of those occasions.

    Summary

The benefits do not outway the risks of using this software. I've had to permanently uninstall it. When it works its brilliant but once it starts crashing it keeps crashing even if uninstalled & re-installed.

"Liking a lot but their refining broke too much"

    April 12, 2014   |   By xelos

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2014 build 002

    Pros

Multiple explorers in one and you can use addons if you take the time to explore and find where they are. Quick load time.

    Cons

Not intuitive, windows + right or left key no longer works with new releases, browser toolbars are not friendly with resizing your window where they get jumbled or disappear (maximize usually disappears when you make window smaller)

    Summary

I like the browser but with the new release and the non-compatible window it makes it hard to love it. Give it a shot if you have time and patience to explore...just keep the window maximized heh

By opening new tabs, it copies previous site's tab that was opened from insdtead of opening a blank site.
Tried to find it in settings, but not even setting was available to find.

    Summary

Mozilla is better -however I want toget a new browsed I still recommend that

"Do You Have Time To Waste?"

    October 29, 2013   |   By Smeaga31

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2013 build 118

    Pros

    It works.
    It's Free.

    Cons

    Convoluted and bloaty.

    Summary

I gave This a fair shot and can see why so many like it however, I am trying to move away from bloat and at my age I am a little tired of learning new software. I have never ran across a web site in my life that required the use of Firefox. It seems that with Comodo Dragon & IE 10 I have all I need as far as browsers are concerned. IE comes with windows as a default and Comodo is better than Chrome. I just don't have time to waste or the inclination to learn a new browser. If you need all three engines and have time to waste then this is probably the best choice. For us regular people who just surf once in awhile in normal type places, this is just too much and it's kinda ugly (IMHO).

    Pros

Avant Browser surf web pages quickly

    Cons

It crashes in Firefox engine, no firefox menus and advanced settings

"makes my 10 yr old OVER worked PC use able again!"

    August 23, 2013   |   By glocks20

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2013 build 112

    Pros

I play different media-rich interactive sociable (ie with a chat feed alongside the game) web delivered games & to say my PC struggles is being polite - before I started using avant they had become SO bad I'd given up on playing some of them until I could afford a new PC and/or stopped fixing this geriatric one.....
The ability to switch engines is fab for SOOO many reasons unlike other avant users I pretty much use all 3 because different sites seem to work better with different engines (i rarely use ie compatible)

    Cons

I sometimes have to close & re-open when I switch engines...

It would be really fab if avant somehow could allow an engine allocation to bookmarked sites

    Summary

If you tend to visit lots of media rich sites that nuke your CPU then you should defo try Avant Ultimate - it's removed LOTS of frustrations for me.... & sites that tend to cause flash crashes for my PC in chrome & ff weirdly don't do this if I use Avant with the respective plug-in

DON'T be put off by my referring to engine switching most people have their favourite and stick to it the only reason I do this is because my PC is quirky & old (it has silicone dementia)so I have to workaround it or replace it & as I got made redundant in this financial holocaust I'm having to 'sweat my assets' & with this browser I can :)

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2013 build 110

    Pros

Compare with the lite version which just have IE engines, I prefer to use this ultimate version. I can switch between the differnet engines freely which is the main method to solve some web page problem for me.
    No crash,no freeze,no memory leak.
    Fast speed, rich features,classical interface.

    Cons

As I said before,Ad blocker is not powerful enough.

    Summary

It's the best browser I ever used.

"Will Not Install, And You Get a Virus!"

    April 19, 2013   |   By Gold Dust

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2013 build 23

    Pros

    There is none.

    Cons

Will not install, Installs apps that you do not want. Got virus but it was blocked by Avira, here is the error that I got http://nsis.sourceforge.net/NSIS_Error . I had to use system restore and I also used Norton GoBack.

    Summary

I tried three times to install Avant Browser Ultimate, no luck just a virus and apps and you will get an error message telling to go here http://nsis.sourceforge.net/NSIS_Error . I have never had any problems with any other downloads here.

    Updated on Apr 21, 2013

The Cnet installer is where the apps come from and you can not stop them. The download is for 9.33MB but the Cnet installer is for 13MB which brings in the apps and the virus, the direct download link will only bring in a virus. So stay away from both of these and never down the Avant Browser Ultimate, look for another browser SRWare Iron is very good.

    "It's great!"

    April 14, 2013   |   By zzxyz34

Version: Avant Browser Ultimate 2013 build 23

    Pros

After I downloaded the browser I was unable to use it.because a pre- existing problem with the keyboard. Therefore, it was difficult to test the difference between the two browsers.

    Cons

I noticed a big difference with my notebook in so far as speed when browsing. I just need to find a way to tame my keyboard.

    Summary

I have not had a chance to send an approval remark because Asus' keyboard goes wild and still does, but I see that that this browser and iolo will work well together.

I tried to down load the Avant Browser Ultimate on my Compaq , it would not download there, but it left Conduit on my browser. I hate Conduit. The browser on the Asus seems to be different, I don't think that it is Conduioughtt. Thanks
