"An excellent and instant search tool"

1.Instant results, once installed and database compiled.
2.Options for searching different file types,viz.,Music,Videos,Documents,Programs etc.
3."Scout bot" and "My Picks" are excellently designed utilities.
4.Integrated Explorer actions help a lot.Cons
1.No "back" button or option. Only "up" function present.
2.Initial indexing can take a god chunk of resources.
3.Formats such as FLV and MP4 not included under either Music or Videos -

It often fails to find what is there.
It keeps putting AvaFind Error files and folders on the desktop.Summary
If you can get it free, it's good to have. If you must pay for it, look for a better product.

This software has limited search capabilities and has not been updated since 2003. Messages sent to their support site never get any reolies. Use extreme caution in buying this product.

This software has limited search capabilities and has not been updated since 2003. Since many people reported paying for the product but not getting the product key, I sent several messages to their support site but never got any replies.
Recommend Instant File Find. It gives many more search options and is just as fast as AvaFind. I purchased the software online with a credit card and immediately got an e-mail with the product key. I have sent several support requests and have always gotten a response within 24 hours. -

I too downloaded the software and liked it enough to purchase the professional version. But when they accepted my payment on Paypal THEY NEVER GAVE ME A LICENSE KEY or any other acknowledgement. TOTAL RIPOFF.

Yes, AVA Find find files fast!

But, NOT better than Instant File Find . It's very similar to AvaFind (fast file search ) . However, the toolbar customization supported in Instant File Find is more useful . And you can make the search by size and date of the file in IFF. The insterface is very well also. It is highly recommended to use IFF instead of AVAFIND

I use this everyday to look for those pesky files, that seem to hide from you. I really appreciate this software because if you type in "chicken" you get your results extremely fast. (And for me, with 3 drives, and endless folders, I could use the help). Yes, people have said here that it may run full system scans for any other files it might of missed upon being closed out of, but it is worth it. It keeps recurrent files that you need under a list on the right, and if you decide to type in "chicken", it will know, and choose the one that you had wanted in the past. An extremely solid piece of free ware that I come to appreciate, because quite frankly, the normal search methods seem to take forever.
In the end, highly recommended.

Great Idea, search files fast. Better than Google Desktop Search and any "Desktop search" Tool.
Cons
No updates , no support for many years! Bought key expired after one year! One reviewer seems to NOT be able to get the product key.
But I found a new tool called " Instant File Find 1.3 " . It 's similar to avafind, so i paid for a full version. Then i found the features of that product are better than avafind.
