Way more slick than a scrapbook, this miniprogram creates basic picture slide shows with virtually no effort. Installation is a breeze and AutoRun Slideshow automatically opens up a short tutorial in a browser window. You barely need the lesson, however; included sample slide shows are enough to show you how the program works. Be wary of a tutorial file called "MPEG Video"; when we clicked it, it crashed the program. It's easy to add music to a show and to add voice-over or even text to pictures as commentary. Though there aren't too many bells and whistles, AutoRun Slideshow is a good shortcut for a simple picture presentation.

Supports JPEG, GIF, BMP, XBM images; MPEG, AVI, WVM video; MP3, WMA, MIDI, RMI, WAV, and AU sound. Place SlideShow.exe on a CD with your images and videos for an instant slide show. Or, use MakeSlideShow.exe (included) to author custom shows complete with background music and voice overs.

Version 6.0a is now full screen and hides the cursor and controls, also is now very graphical, showing menu icons and photo thumbnails, has a built-in Sound Recorder.
