"Great professional software"
Version: AutoCAD 2012
Pros
the new features designed to make it easier for AutoCAD users to work with others is the integration of PDF creation and consumption tools. It's now possible for AutoCAD users to publish PDF files from within an AutoCAD drawing
Cons
Great, useful software for professional. But expensive
Summary
the new features designed to make it easier for AutoCAD users to work with others is the integration of PDF creation and consumption tools. It's now possible for AutoCAD users to publish PDF files from within an AutoCAD drawing, and to use PDF files as underlays, with attach and snap-to capabilities. http://comforu.com
Pros
CAD 2012 also boasts improvements to the model documentation tools, which allow users to generate intelligent drawing views for models created with AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor and other modeling tools.

In amongst all the unnecessary and expensive features are hidden an excellent set of essential tools for the draftsman.
Cons
None.
Summary
My comments above should be self-explanatory.

"AutoCAD is a wonderful program to use"
Version: AutoCAD 2012
Pros
AutoCAD 2012 is extremely powerful if you can figure out how to use it.
Cons
Complex software that does require training for most people.
Summary
Most people that use AutoCAD need some form of training. Some people can get by with reading the manual or even by watching videos. Most people need instructor led training like what CAD Training Online offers. CAD Training Online's AutoCAD 2012 training is conducted live over the internet in a virtual classroom.
Make sure that you receive your training from an Autodesk Authorized Training Center. -
"Excellent productivity tool when used with Softutor"
Version: AutoCAD 2011
Pros
Tough to say much for a demo that's so complex to use, but when used with the softutor AutoCAD tutorial on download.com, well ... wow! AutoCAD is an amazingly productive tool. I updated the tutorial 2D & 3D, mastered AutoCAD, showed my boss & wow!
Cons
When used without a tutorial it's very hard to become productive enough within 30 days to see the value of the product. With the tutorial you can become productive while its in demo mode. This is the 4th time I've tried AutoCAD & I finely get it!
Summary
Once you get AutoCAD down its hands down the best product for the price on the market. Although its steep learning curve hinders its success. I've tried demos several times and just did not have the patients to learn enough of it to make it worth the steep price. But some how when I searched for AutoCAD I stumbled upon a free tutorial for it on download.com as well. I hate to read and 99% of most tutorials are a waste of time, but not this softutor product. All I can say is wow! I hate wasting my time learning when I just want to draw and design.
I've been working in cad since 1984 and have tried many others unigraphics, sdrc, solid edge, solidworks, microstation, verascad, ideas, smartsketch, sketchup ... but autocad finely got it. Not sure what you can do to improve it maybe add more smartsketch like commands. Still not sure why you need revit or inventor as 3d is really easy to use in autocad once you get it down. I can just look at objects and know how to draw them, plus when you convert your 3d to 2d (for plotting) you have to wonder why you'd ever want to design in 2d again. took me about a week to get proficient in autocad learning 2d in a few days then finishing with 3d in a few more, but did buy the updated tutorial (w free update to 2012). Not like the old days of going to classes for 6 weeks and forgetting most of what you learned before you get back.
Cannot wait to get the full version of 2012! -
