Join your hard drive fragments together into a tight bunch with this freeware. Auslogics Disk Defrag's interface couldn't be any cleaner or easier to use.

Choose a hard drive from an easy-to-read pull-down menu, and Disk Defrag instantly displays the drive's size, and used and free space. The program even displays a pie graph for visual learners. One click starts the defragmentation process. The program's defrag process screen displays another handy visual. A sector map makes it easy to see how much of the drive is fragmented, allocated, or free. As the program churns away, the defragged sectors are displayed in blue.

We found the program fast, even on older XP systems. A handy HTML report is prepared after each defrag session. A summary displays the total files and folders defragged, while the detail section lists the defrag outcome for each file. We only wish a final sector map was included in the report. Novices to system administrators will love this easy-to-use hard drive defrag program.

"I think they broke it!"

August 27, 2012  |  By paulettemoudakis

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

Free - faster by far than the Windows version

Cons

Up until this latest upgrade, it did a great job of defragging. But I ran it right after upgrading, and it did a pretty lousy job - leaving c. 25% still fragmented. I ran it again to no improvement. What the heck??

Summary

I want it back like it was before the last upgrade!

"Version 3.5.0.5 doesn't work on my machine"

August 27, 2012  |  By Khoshbakhtam

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

I love this product and have used it for years, but the most recent update of the free version does not work on my Vista machine (the defrag freezes and I have to shut it via Task Manager). I have uninstalled and reverted to the previous version, 3.5.0.0.

Cons

This update doesn't work at all.

Summary

Great product, but version 3.5.0.5 doesn't work on my machine.

"Do Windows 7 users need to Defrag?"

August 26, 2012  |  By waynes470

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

Easy to download and easy to use.Fast disc clean-up and fast disc defrag.Much quicker than Windows Utilities. Then again I was told Windows 7 OS does it Automatically. I use it anyway just in case.

Cons

Cant think of any only I dont notice much improvement in performance.

Summary

I have been using Wise Disc software up until now,and it is just as good but Auslogics Disc Defrag is a bit faster.

"Worst Experience Ever"

August 25, 2012  |  By CustomerReviewer

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

The program works but exaggerates the benefits.

Cons

All software includes additional "advertising" applications. These are installed under the guise for your benefit but won't be available for use until you "purchase again."

They sell one application for $30.00 and if you buy all three they sell it for $34.95. So beware of the false gimmicks that they have.

Another nuisance is the pop-up. It constantly appears every 2-3 hours without any option to disable. It pops, and literally minimizes your other applications. If you ask me, this is the worst part of the application.

Customer service. I can't even describe how horrible their service is. The only way to "reach" them is via e-mail. Normally, you would expect to get some assistance but they take a minimum 48 hours to 80 hours to respond. In addition, no agent takes accountability to find solutions for their clients.

Application is basically a ploy to purchase their other applications. There are better and more RELIABLE products out there versus Auslogic.

My advice, don't buy.

Summary

Normally, I am not an individual who writes reviews but seriously, this is the worst company I have dealt with in my life. They can take my money, but in return, I will tell how horrible this company is.

Software has more bugs than it can defrag and the customer service is like crap.

Very user friendly and informative as to status while defraging.

Cons

Color code cell identification could be tweaked to better allow user customization.

Summary

For a free program it is excellent for even novice users!!

"I prefer the previous version and stick with that."

August 19, 2012  |  By stevehorvath59

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

To be honest, I don't have any pluses. I was much more impressed with the previous version's GUI and display, and its effectiveness.

Cons

The graphical user interface lost its attractive appeal and fails to inform the user about the processes. The outcome results are not shown in such detail in a window as in they were in the previous version.

Summary

I would stick with the previous version of this utility that I found to be more appealing and effective after I tried both of them. I eventually uninstalled the new version and re-installed the previous version.

"Works great - I use it on all my Windows 7 systems"

August 18, 2012

 |  Version: Auslogics Disk Defrag 3.5.0.5

Pros

Relatively fast operation. Can defrag multiple drives concurrently. Knows if a drive is partitioned and works on only one partition at a time.

Cons

Has a tendency to perform "overlapped" file moves during optimization phase - i.e., it shifts a non-fragmented file a small number of disk segments away from where is already is; the target location occupies most of the same sectors as the source. This is a big waste of time, especially for large files.

Summary

Even with the overlapped move glitch, I still highly recommend this program.
