    "Doesn't do the job fully."

    September 30, 2013  |   By MRPETERPAN1

    Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 6.1

    Pros

    Nothing at all.

    Cons

    Slightly messed up my computer.

    Summary

The first thing it cleans well is your bank account of $50.
The trial scans and cleans a few things but to do full cleaning you must buy it and pay $50. Most of the cleaning tools are offered as free programs on their web site, and you have better options and more control with the free stuff.
Instead of defraging my (C:) drive it defraged another partition which has my "Virtual Box, Linux Mint OS" which wasted 1/2 hour of time. Then it deleted all the short cuts in the folders on the tab bar and one on my desktop. The junk file cleaning is minimal. You're better off using the free "CCleaner with CCEnhancer" add-on.
Auslogics makes an excellent Disk Defrag Pro which give options to
Optimize free space, Defrag according to your prefetch etc etc and you can defrag your boot up all separately. All in one packages never do the job that specialized individual programs do.
Lastly; make sure you have a "System Image Back-up" or a restore point. Just the fact that the trial is limited and you have to pay them to use the software should have given me a warning. Stick to the free stuff. Defraggler free is almost as good as Disk Defrag Pro.

Since posting my complaint about this software this morning and after uninstalling it I have found more areas of my computer that this version # 6.1 has destroyed. It totally wiped out my bookmarks in Firefox which took me years to accumulate. and it messed up and changed the settings in my "Efficent PIM" agenda. I'm afraid to find out what more has been destroyed. If anybody wants to give someone they don't like a migraine, just refer them to this product. I have used other cleaner/optimizers in the past but never have I had so much destruction. "GARBAGE" Their last version worked fine but this version is terrible.

"Be careful with this suite of tools!"

    September 29, 2013  |   By Gr8ful Lurker

    Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 6.1

    Pros

    - Defrag engine is fast.
    - Optimization tools are nice to have.
    - UI Tweaks can speed up a slower system.
    - System diagnostics tools are far better than native ones.

    Cons

    - Registry Defrag tool damages Win7 X64 registry
    - Not all of the Privacy/Track Eraser entries are ever removed. Ever.

    Summary

I have used this suite of tools for years, it's pretty good.
    However...

    Do Not

DO NOT ever use the Registry Defrag tool on a 64-bit system! Unless you know the Repair Console commands to recover an older registry, you WILL be looking at a System Repair at the minimum (if it will work), or a complete or custom re-install. Why would you want to do that? Defeats the whole purpose of a defrag, doesn't it?

    YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED

A restart notation will be entered that will prevent src /scannow from working, or even identifying the file(s) that are damaged. Only a repair from an image you created, a restore of old registry, or reinstall will fix it. This part of the suite is at best mis-named.

CCleaner is a reliable, less dangerous alternative, albeit without a Defrag feature. Get the Auslogics standalone Defrag for that.

    "Problem with update"

    August 8, 2013  |   By STONEDG40

    Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 6.1

    Pros

Many similar products but within one easy to use package.

    Cons

The version 6 opening page appears much more confusing. Having downloaded the update from version 5 to 6 I was informed I was not registered despite having purchased the program 6 months earlier. As suggested, I used the purchase code from their email and was advised of an "Activation error". The only course open to me was to email Technical Support and the response was to expect a response within 2 to 4 days. This is very poor as the company holds my information and the update should be automatic and any response much quicker.

    Summary

Not likely to renew my subscription when it expires.

    Updated on Aug 8, 2013

Since writing this review I discovered that there is an extra payment to upgrade from version 5 to 6. No advance warning is given and what is more annoying is that the upgrade (after asking for approval) removes version 5 before installing version 6. There doesn't appear to be any way to re-install version 5.
