Editors' Review

BoostSpeed is an effective all-encompassing utility suite, combining some of Auslogics' popular freeware titles such as Disk Defrag and Registry Defrag with services that they don't offer elsewhere. There's an uninstall manager, a startup manager for boot cycle customizations, RAM and browser optimizers, file shredder, DirectX diagnostic, Windows tweak manager, and several mini apps to manage Windows settings. It also comes with a rescue center that can back up any settings before you change them. No doubt, BoostSpeed gives you your money's worth, at least in terms of services provided. Upgrading also only costs $10, for those who own older versions.

Are they all worth paying for? That depends on what kind of user you are. Most, if not all, of these features are available as freeware from one vendor or another, and generally one in each category is top-notch or nearly so. Some of the lesser tools, like the tweaks manager and the security feature, didn't live up to our expectations. Tweaks focused on basic functions and wouldn't serve as a replacement for TweakUI, while the security feature merely let me know that we had up-to-date security apps installed. Still, the convenience of having all these tools located under one umbrella was hard to argue with, and even the tools that didn't impress did their jobs hitch-free.

Scan speeds for the features new to us included here were comparable with those in Disk Defrag. Users also got the convenience of optionally setting the program to run at startup and live in the system tray, making most of the program's functionality no more than a context-menu click away. The most useful tools are the Disk Defrag, the RAM optimizer, the Registry Optimizer--if you believe that "optimizing" the Registry is more than snake oil--the file shredder, and the performance monitor. The 15-day trial comes unfettered, allowing you to thoroughly judge if this is a program you want.

"trial version is a misnomer"

August 04, 2011  |  By ttc314

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

impossible to determine. all the advanced tools are locked and not available in trial version

Cons

trial version only fixes 15 out of the "thousands" it says it has found

Summary

trial version is a waste of time

Updated on Aug 4, 2011

AFTER I uninstalled this "trial " version THEN a webpage "http://www.auslogics.com/en/uninstal/?product=Auslogics%20BoostSpeed" popped up with the following offer " If your trial version of Auslogics BoostSpeed expired and you haven't received our attractive offer so far, you can buy Auslogics BoostSpeed within the next 24 hours and get a 50% discount.

Get the full version of Auslogics BoostSpeed for just $24.97 (Regular price: $49.95) version " Wonder if I install the trial version again and then uninstall it, if the price would come down to $12.50 ? :-)

July 20, 2011  |  By Kaicanoe

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

I can check net speed from different servers. The disk defrag is the fastest & best I have used. The 1 check is easy to clean up with.

Cons

Duplicate file finder needs to be tuned up better.

Summary

$ 4 $, it is a deal.

"Caused System Boot Failure (Using the full version)"

July 04, 2011  |  By Dudewheresmydownload

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

Has a function to clean junk files from your computer. (If you pay)

Cons

Does more harm than good when trying to fix so called problems, which can cause many more problems.

Summary

Not worth downloading at all. I recommend Glaryutilities. It works and it is free.

July 03, 2011  |  By cozdemire

Pros

It looks like a good utility program.

Cons

I tried the trial. It says that you can use if for 15 days. But you can only fix the first 15 problems out of the thousands more.

"The name far understates the usefulness of this program"

June 21, 2011  |  By hjc

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

I've been "the utility man" for 29 years. Third party utilities to do what Microsoft won't. I have about all of the best including everything that Auslogics makes. Anything they do is the best or a close tie. Many many apps all under one roof.

Cons

Not sure that the trial version will show the full value. Nor, until you need to repair major issues - then you realize what this all in one program does! $50 bucks is a bit mutch. Seems they would do a lot better getting them "hooked" at $30.

Summary

Chkdsk crashed my computer. That is never good. On reboot there was most boot applications would not even see my drive or it's partition. I repaired that (major) but sectors were lost and though Windows booted I had a mess. Boost speed and especially Reg clean within it repaired well over a 1000 serious problems. What is that worth? The Editors review is very dated. People who put down the value of a GOOD registry cleaner ... well to each their own.

"It works first time, every time."

June 15, 2011  |  By kirkinak

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

it's easy and seems to keep things running smoothly. What else could I expect?

Cons

A few more explanations of what some things actually do would be nice.

Summary

I use it religiously and will continue to do so.

"Best Of The Best"

June 12, 2011  |  By Music-Producer2010

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

I run a host of top of the line System Utilities on my Computers and many of them if not all have been highly praised, Auslogics BoostSpeed have been apart of my favorites going on two years now and hasn't lost a note.

Cons

None that I can think of

Summary

This is the System Utility of them all in top 5 System Utilities. It gets the job done without messing up your System and I don't run a single Computer without it. However I would like to see Auslogics add more Utilities to future versions of this awesome program.

"Definitely an Improvement"

June 07, 2011  |  By jocasch

 |  Version: Auslogics BoostSpeed 5.1

Pros

Faster, more useful features, more user friendly ... not that that was a problem in the previous version

Cons

The "Removing Duplicates" feature could still use some work, especially for photos.

Summary

A definite improvement over the previous versions.
