"Does the job I wanted but not very user-friendly"

by Bkess on November 10, 2009

Pros: It's free, and did what I wanted - copied a protected track from a CD without the protection.

Cons: An old program and not easy to learn. Had to play around trying different buttons to get it to do what I wanted. Should have tried Help!!

Summary: I wanted a particular track to affix to a Picasa slideshow but the source CD was protected. I downloaded Audiograbber and was able to copy the file without the protection and use it in Picasa. read more

Pros: This product, combined with the LAME MP3 encoder (separate download), rips from CDs and then encodes to MP3. The MP3 files it creates (including variable bit rate MP3s), will play on ANYTHING, even decade old DVD players which support MP3 CDs.

Cons: It takes a little manual work, and the Freedb Internet CD database it uses to provide album and track titles may not be accurate.

Summary: I found out about Audiograbber when I discovered some MP3 files generated from Windows Media Player (this was probably back during version 7 or 8) would not play on some devices, and did not make it clear about which Genres tags and double-block char... read more
