"Hard sell gone from site. Easy to use, good results."
Version: Audio Transcoder 2.8
Pros
Simple interface. Enough customization options without getting complex. Good quality conversions.
Cons
People talked about unwanted programs. If you choose custom install and deselect them only transcoder installs. Obviously vendor has cleaned up their act.
Summary
Good mix of quality control and a simple interface.

"Don't waste your time."
Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.9.1250
Pros
I Don't know as I did not use it.
Cons
You are forced to install unwanted programs before you even get to install the trial version. Sorry, no thanks.
Summary
They need to rethink how they introduce people to their product if they want to sell it. Wait, they are being paid to force other "software" on would be users....

"Good software ruined by scam-laden spyware installation"
Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.9.1250
Pros
The software itself, for the most part, just works. I've never got Apple Lossless output files to be read by iTunes, but that aside the other formats have worked well and painlessly. For audio transcoding this is good (I even paid for it).
Cons
Latest version uses misleading installation tricks you into installing FaceMoods and AutoCompletePro junkware; redirects your IE homepage to autocomplete.com; adds new search engine provider, the whole deal. A crappy way to treat a paying customer.
Summary
I understand (on one level) using spyware to pay for a free product (a quid pro quo I guess), but it's unforgivable when you've actually paid to register the software, and the latest update adds this junk in. I'm sure there's a way to say no, but it's well disguised if so, and it's definitely designed to make you install it by default. As a registered _paying_ customer, I don't expect that kind of dirty trick to be pulled. Suffice it to say that autocomplete.com is such high quality spyware that my virus protection won't even let me go to the homepage that it changed IE to point to. Sadly, this just makes me thing that I never want to deal with this software producer ever again. Stupid decision - rating remains 1-star until this scammy installation process is cleaned up.

"Installs Spyware"
Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.9.1250
Pros
It works, but you install unwanted programs.
Cons
Installer also installs 2 programs that you don't want. And it is made quite (deliberately...?) confusing to make sure that you accidentally agree.
Summary
Be safe. Don't install it.

"Not perfect but Very, Very Good."
Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.9.1243
Pros
Very easy to use without needing to read instructions. Finds music within folders and outputs to matching folder structure.
Cons
Doesn't normalize, can't see Microsoft's Media Player's Playlists.
Summary
The evaluation version only converts 10 songs at a time but it worked well so I spent the $19 and tried the full version. Flawless. I pointed it to the top folder and it found all 1800 songs, then converted them pefectly and placed them in matching folders in another directory. It let me choose the bits/s (128) and the sample rate (44100), but it did not let me normalize the volume levels. It took approximately 4 hours.
I had to use Windows Media Player to burn my original (lossless) files to a DVD, then copy the DVD to my hard drive. Once there Audio Transcoder converted them beautifully, then I burned a ton of CDs. Audio Transcoder would get 5 stars if it could normalize too. I'm still waiting for a converter that can see songs in my playlists (Microsoft Media Player), convert them, normalize them, and burn them to discs. -
"Simply Perfect !"
Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.9.1242
Pros
I think this program is one of the best audio conversion software available. It supports all sorts of file formats and has all the necessary functionalities that I wanted, especially the output file handling.
Cons
nothing really.
Summary
it has a very intuitive user interface and it's perfect for iPod lovers out there who want to play cd-quality flac and ape files on their ipods. Conversion is so simple and it also utilizes multiple cores which speeds up the process a lot.

Version: Audio Transcoder 1.9.5.1203
Pros
Only 3 steps are requred to convert audio files: 1) Select files, 2) Enter settings, and 3) Click Convert.
Cons
