Though this powerful audio-file conversion utility offers a feast of options, the trial version provides only a taste. Audio Convertor Plus supports a wide array of audio formats, including MP3, OGG, WAV, and WMA , as well as the lesser known RAW, G721, and G726.

Audiophiles will appreciate the Advanced MP3 settings, which include high- and low-pass filtering, bit-reservoir toggling, and ATH control. In our tests, the program speedily transformed files back and forth between formats. The interface is mostly straightforward, though it could use some tool tips. The meager help file doesn't even explain the difference between the demo and the registered version.

We soon figured out that the trial converts only half of any given file. That was frustrating, given how many freeware programs provide similar functionality. However, if you need a better interface and finer control over your audio output, Audio Convertor Plus's $19 registration fee is reasonable.

Audio Convertor Plus can batch-convert audio files from one format to another. It supports most of the popular audio formats such as WAV (Standard PCM, Compressed WAV), MPEG (MP3, MP2, MP1), Ogg Vorbis, WMA, AVI, VOX, RAW, G72x (G7.21, G7.23, G7.26), DSP, MPPlus (MPC, MP+), Apple Audio (AIF, AIFF, AIFC) and Unix Audio (AU, SUD). Its supported conversions include MP3 to WAV, WAV to MP3, OGG to WAV, WAV to OGG, MP3 to OGG, OGG to MP3, MP3 to WMA, and WMA to MP3. Using Audio Convertor Plus you can convert audio files from one format to another; specify frequency, number of channels, bit rate, and other parameters of your output files; apply fine-tuning of parameters for MP3 and OGG formats; specify the location of the output files; and visually judge the completion of the conversion process.
