Pros: Excellent! Does what it says, easy to use.
Cons: Asks you to locate the "LAME" encoder file the first time you try to export your edited MP3. This was not very difficult, I just ran a search for it and found it in 30 seconds.

"A Great Editor and Recorder!"
Pros: I use Audacity primarily for editing sound samples for a webpage. This software has a lot that I like:
- Imports and exports WAV, AIFF, OGG, etc
- Easy to use (cut, copy, delete, undo)
- Fade in, fade out
- Some built in effects
- Multi-channel recording
- IT'S FREE!
Cons: You have to download and install a separate LAME encoder library for exporting to MP3. Not a problem for me because I work primarily with WAV files.

Pros: I have been using this prgram for about 2 years now, and it works great, it is a great method to recording your band with it.
Cons: limited mixing capabilities

"My favoite Free Sound Editor"
Pros: I can't recomend this product enough. I have mixed two CD's from live recordings made with crappy tape recorders using Audacity. I have also used it to take bits and pieces of soundbytes and create background sounds for several games. If you know how to work with WAV files in an editor, this free program is a good way to go.
Cons: I'm sure I'll find something some day, but the product IS free, so I doubt I'll mind. Nothing that kept me from doing what I needed to do has shown up.

Pros: This is a VERY good program for audio editing with much effects. It works nicely for podcasting and putting tapes and LP's on youre computer (it can remove most of the crackles).
