Atomik Xport Personal Edition specifications
What's new in version 1.1
The product’s strength is found in a powerful set of global preferences that enable users to maximise the consistency, usefulness and hence value of the XML content, meaning that no setup or tagging is required. Atomik Xport Personal Edition 1.1 adds several new and enhanced features to this global set of preferences to further expand its XML export capabilities. New features include:
Convert tabs to tables
By looking for consecutive tab characters in lines of text, version 1.1 identifies tabular content that has been constructed in text boxes within QuarkXPress. It can then export this content into XML using any of three table definitions including; HTML; Atomik Xport; or CALS - the standard definition for modelling tables in SGML and XML.
User controllable whitespace handling
Users can now specify how they would like QuarkXPress whitespace to be handled by Atomik Xport PE. Whitespace is any content in QuarkXPress that is not a visible character, for example line feeds, carriage returns, spaces, tabs etc. Version 1.1 has options for ignoring whitespace, including it, including only tabs or converting whitespace into XML entities, thus preserving them correctly in the XML export, regardless of the encoding method selected.
Enhanced content grouping preferences
The content grouping options in Atomik Xport PE 1.1 have been enhanced and simplified to enable content to be grouped together in the XML export more easily. Users can select from any combination of grouping options including the new ‘group inline’ feature which enables any text or image boxes which are inline to a text flow to be grouped.
Even faster
The underlying XML export technology as has been optimised in version 1.1 to make what was already a very fast XML export process even faster. As an example, the 88 page Atomik Xport PE User Manual now takes less than a second to be exported from QuarkXPress into XML.
