For many people, a media player like iTunes or Windows Media Player can handle day-to-day media ripping and burning tasks. Users with slightly more demanding needs, however, may seek out a separate application for this kind of work. Astroburn Pro is a simple program that gives users a handful of features for working with digital media. It's nothing fancy, but it's a straightforward set of tools made especially to handle CDs and DVDs and their contents.
Astroburn Pro's interface is plain and fairly intuitive, although the way things are organized takes a little getting used to. A series of attractive buttons with tool tips represent the program's major features. An Explorer panel lets users navigate to files on their machine, and an Info panel supplies information about CD or DVD currently in use. Astroburn Pro lets user copy and erase disc contents, create disc images, and burn images and projects to discs. Creating a new project is as easy as navigating to the desired files and then dragging and dropping them into the project pane, and on the whole, the program was very easy to use. Astroburn Pro supports the use of CDs, DVDs, Blu-ray discs, and HD DVD technology. The program's online Help file is well-written, with plenty of screenshots. Overall, Astroburn Pro didn't totally knock our socks off, but it's a simple, straightforward way to work with digital media.

Astroburn Pro offers to create CDs, DVDs and Blu-rays with just a few mouse clicks. User completely controls the process while working: free space a disc has, already planned to be taken and reading or erasing speed is chosen. Astroburn Lite enables to create a new project, folder or burn just one file and rename already added ones. It also allows choosing whether to burn an image or data to the disc. It is possible to erase disc if necessary. Astroburn Lite has small size and very convenient mode. It also has a new pleasant interface: skin and language can be changed as you like.
Additional features include master bootable discs or images, quick discs erasing, import data from image files, select a file system for your disc: ISO9660+Joilet, UDF, and Audio CD, customize layout of the program, select language for program interface, and compose audio projects (MP3, WAV, WMA, APE, and FLAC formats are supported) using an additional feature: listen before start burning.

This is a drag-and-drop program, simplicity at its finest. All I had to do was figure out that I could click-drag-drop any C-disk file to the "New CD" it was sweet. Man, I love simplicity! It also has a clean, slick GUI too. This is the one!

No "cons." This is the only CD burner I'll need!
Summary
Man, I'm tired...I downloaded and tried about four or five CD-burning programs from cnet today and none worked. This gem, once I figured out the drag-and-drop function, did what I wanted. It erased my CD then copied a mixed (multimedia) file to the CD...just like that. It's been a long day...but I finally found Astroburn. Thank you so much Astroburn and cnet!

EASY to use, AND IT WORKED! When I get some extra cash I'll upgrade to a better version (assuming there is one).

Frankly, I can't think of anything. (Knock-on-wood) Except, when installing pay attention -- uncheck the boxes if you don't want to add-on toolbars, search defaults, etc.
Summary
It worked! When Roxio (older version) bit the dust for no apparent reason 2 days ago (after having just successfully copied data to 12 discs) I tried FIVE 4-star user rated programs & this was the ONLY ONE that did what I expected it to do -- copy graphic files to disk for backup, and then actually read them from my graphics program. Thank you AstroBurn! Now I can move on to better things. First up is removing the Roxio space hog from my harddrive. ;o)

I like the simplicity and ease of use with this software. This program satisfies all my needs for now and its Free! I did however, not like the Astroburn toolbar and it changed the default search engine in hte IE search box to its own Astroburn search. I have removed the toolbar, but havent changed the search box yet. If you are looking to burn CDs and DVDs easily and quickly, this is your program. Disclaimer: I have only tried to burn data discs, but they work just fine.

I've only used it once so far in 3 days, but it is really great software. It allows for easy and fast burning, and enables you to burn any file you want for any purpose, including ISO and DVD files. The only problem is the toolbar that comes with it. It automatically installs along with the software, but you can remove the toolbar in Internet Explorer. The toolbar doesn't accumulate pop-ups or anything, like other software out there, so it's really not a big deal, just remove it. I would recommend this download to anyone who does some more advanced burning, it's worked great so far for me.
