"Here is a great alternative to "MS Office"."
Pros: If you don't own or aren't willing so spend big money on "Microsoft Office", this is the best alternative. It runs great on "Vista" and can be purchased for $4.95. How can you beat that? I do like it better then "Open Office', especially for the price. whats five bucks in todays world? Nothing at all! It looks good and opens fast. All my "MS Word" and "Excel" documents open fine and it's easy to past in a photo.
Cons: Only one. It doesn't come with the fonts I like. But hey, for five bucks, you can't beat this "Ashampoo" application!

"Does what I need it to do..."
Pros: 1.) I purchased this product at a greatly reduced price to what it was originally sold at. I find it now to be of excellent value.
2.) It is not memory intensive. This is important to me as my computer is a rather dated Pentium 3 800 with Windows'98SE.
3.) My 5 star rating is based on the fact that the program does what I need it to do at a low price with little memory usage. Open Office 2.01 may well be an alternative for those looking for a more sophisticated program...
Cons: Could be more user friendly for beginners.

"A cheap & viable alternative to Microsoft Office."
Pros: Not quite as good as Microsoft Office but much better than the FREE & very useful Open Office suite, if you can afford it. Very quick to install, quick and easy to use, taking up very little hard drive space (it can also be installed on a USB Memory Stick, thus making it very "portable"). Compatability with 'Office is generally very good. The basic languages are German, UK & US English with free add-ons for Swiss-German, French, French-Canadian, Italian, Spanish, Latin America Spanish , Portuguese, Brazilian-Portuguese, Dutch, Danish, Swedish, and Norwegian.
Cons: Unfortunately, at present, there is no "PowerPoint" equivalent available. The only problems I've had are very minor, and arose when swapping files about with Excel, whilst producing my beer & wine calculators for the "YoBrew" site. This should not be a problem to the majority of users.

Version: Ashampoo Office 2008 1.2
Pros: --FAST
--Portable Version for use on USB drives or similar
--Small footprint
--did I mention fast?
--if you must have power point scripting, and access type programs, they are in development (the power point like program is in beta)
I have MS office,Open Office, Word Perfect, and a couple of others. This "suite" (if you can really call it that) meets my needs better than all the others. I only use Word Processors and Spreadsheets from office suites anyway.(oh, and outlook.....) Ashampoo Office is blazingly fast compared to all the other programs. I am still, to this day, suprised at how fast it loads up. I have never had any major compatability issues - and if I ever do, I guess I have MS Office.
Cons: I really can't think of any other than brand recognition or a cleaner design but thats stretching it.

Pros: This is a good solid word processor and spreadsheet application with decent Word and Excel compatibility. For home users or students this is something worth looking at.
Cons: What it has is solid, but it is only a word processor and spreadsheet. They really should remove the icons for the Basic scripting and database until they actually build those modules. If you are looking for a basic inexpensive word processor and/or spreadsheet package and you do not need the additional features of OpenOffice.org I would instead look at 602PC Suite. The MS Word compatibility is better and you get a little more for your money.
