"Excellent - so simple to use - no superfluous extras"
Version: Ashampoo Music Studio 3.51
Pros
Easy to use with a straightforward, no nonsense user interface, the application is ideal for those wishing to copy audio files with the minimum of hassle. The ability to create audio files from most sources rather than just ripping CDs is a bonus
Cons
For some, this may be too simple but then there are more expensive, more complicated applications available and, of course, the free, superb Audacity which caters for those who wish to have additional facilities.
Summary
This application is designed with ease of use in mind. Buttons representing the operations available are set out on the left hand side of the application window and are clearly labelled. The 'Record Audio' facility is a welcome addition as, unlike Music Studio 2009, you can now create audio files from any source that can connect to your computers audio inputs. If you don't want "bells and whistles" but just want to make reasonable quality backups of tapes, records or CDs, this application will serve your needs more than adequately.
I found that the recording mask (mixer controls) that features in the 'Record Audio' facility was of limited use to me - the slider controls appeared inoperative but this was probably caused by my Realtek sound card and it was easy to use the Realtek
interface alongside that of Music Studio 3.
Overall I would say this is a good value product - it does what I want effectively, simply and without fuss. -
"Generally useful program for saving CD music onto PC."
Version: Ashampoo Music Studio 3.51
Pros
Essential for uploading music from CD to a backup on an external hard disk.
Cons
If a track from a cd is faulty it stops being transferred to my PC and all subsequent tracks on the same cd cannot be accessed. It would be helpful if there was a way of skipping faulty tracks so that aubsequent good tracks were transferred to PC.
