Burning discs may seem so mid-'90s to some of you, but CDs and DVDs are still an effective back-up tool, and if you're a budding filmmaker or have a garage band that's this close to making it big, discs are an essential medium for your mantra.
The good-looking, easy-to-use Ashampoo Burning Studio comes with all the tools most users will need to create audio, data, and video CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray discs. The interface is compact and uncluttered, with helpful tool hints that open up next to each burning option, making it hard to screw up. To set up a burn session, you can simply drag and drop files into a playlist-style window. We like the handy, omnipresent gauge at the bottom of the window, which lets us know how much free space we have left. Audio CDs can be made from file types including WAV, MP3, OGG, and WMA, while most video formats are supported for DVD.
Ashampoo Burning Studio doesn't have all the advanced features you'll find in huge packages such as Nero, but average users won't miss them. Ashampoo Burning Studio's simplicity and broad range of tools make it a superb choice for most burning needs.
Publisher's description
From Ashampoo :Ashampoo Burning Studio 8 is a complete, compact, and easy burning suite. It's a single program that can fulfill all of your CD/DVD/Blu-ray burning needs. You just choose from a list of tasks and the program guides you through every step. Even though it has all the functions you would expect from a complete burning suite, the entire program takes up less than 85MB on your hard disk.

Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 8.03
"can't data be copied and burnt onto a dvd directly? A good program, not great!"
Cons: can't data be copied and burnt onto a dvd clearly like a direct copy rather than a backup copy? I would like to make a new original for say. I had like 17 GB in files and folders to copy onto DVD and I set the program to work to burn the 4 DVD's it would require to copy all of that information. When I opened the DVD's they had 4 files on each DVD and these pieces all summed up to the whole project of copying those GB; but I could not directly access any of my files and folders because they were burnt as BACKUP copies. I got somewhat depressed about this because nowhere in Ashampoo's literature did it specify this difference

"Version Upgrade 8 a disappointment"
Pros: Straight forward and easy to use.
Cons: Upgrade to version 8 includes "Design and print disc labels and covers" and "Create a Photo Slideshow" both of which are rudimentary and not a patch on Acoustica CD Label Maker and ProShow Gold slideshow creator

Version: Ashampoo Burning Studio 8.03
Pros: Easy to use and very straightforward program. New video component is a nice addition.
Cons: Does not allow video editing. Does not remove copy protection. Incompatible with some DVDs; especially JVC.
