Could not install free version . After downloading the "Free" version it asks if you want to pay $49.99 for a full version or an activation code. Seems like a bait and switch scam

After downloading the "Free" version, the site asks if you want to pay for a full version or an activation code. Seems like a bait and switch scam If you click on "get your free activation code" it will redirect to a site asking for your email. If you enter an email for your activation code, it returns that the email is not valid (even though it was a real email account) and asks for another email. It never provides you with the activation code. Seems like they are just phishing for emails. An honest company would just install the software without all the fuss. I do not recommend you try this product.

Simple, intuitive navigation. Ideal burner for audio cds but for one thing ...
Cons
ABS Free inserts brief snippets of "static" about midway on audio CDs (haven't tested it on anything else). Doesn't matter what track, playlist, CD media brand or even computer (verified on notebook and desktop). Static completely absent on audio cds created w/other burners, ex. Nero, CDBurnerXP etc., using exact same songs/playlists.
Summary
Loved this product as an ABS newbie. Just disappointed ABS chose this "method" to protect itself against copyright, DRM issues. Caveat emptor. Else if it's a bug, please correct bc product really is great once bug is eliminated (already tried changing DMA to PIO re device channel).
Easily downloaded and installed.

as stated above, this used to be a GREAT piece of software. something happened though and it simply doesn't work the way it once did. on December 31st the version i had installed stopped working. i went to Ashampoo's website, downloaded it and started using it again about a week later. it looks like the same program, but now every dual-layer disc i burn with Ashampoo is useless and locks at the layer-jump point. but hey, at least it burns those useless discs REALLY fast!

I installed this software, and immediately noticed two(2) new icons on my desktop.... Live Chat Help Your (Something) Software I could not delete the 2nd one because it kept saying "You do not have permissions".....Well, i'm logged in as Admin so WTH??!! Stay away from this download....CNET really needs to check what they allow on this site!!!! Updated on Jan 3, 2015"Software Deals" was the icon I could not get rid of no matter what I did....Nothing in the registry or on the computer at all, yet I could not get rid of it.....Had to resort in restoring a System Image from a backup

It's free and it's got other features that might work.

The main reason I use this program is the ability to create ISO's or so it did in the past. Every time I choose CD to ISO, it crashes, however, if I chose "ashdisc", it does fine. So it's exclusively for ashdisc, so why even list the ISO option?
Summary
It used to work fine--like a year ago--but then they decided to revamp the looks and somehow, they knocked off a few features. If you're not into creating ISO files, you'll be fine with the rest of the burning features, but for my ISO purposes, it does not work.
