With the cost of CD and DVD media so low, discs now are the preferred mode for backing up, sharing, and transporting data. Ashampoo Burning Studio 5 comes with a full stable of tools for creating audio, data, and video CDs and DVDs. Extra features let you burn disc images, erase media, and make copies. The intuitive step-by-step interface keeps you moving in the right direction with little room for error. You can simply drag and drop files into a playlist-style window. We like the handy, omnipresent gauge at the bottom of the window that let us know how much free space we had left. Audio CDs can be made from file types including WAV, MP3, OGG, and WMA. Overall, the broad range of tools and simplicity make Ashampoo Burning Studio 5 a solid choice for most burning needs.Publisher's description
From Ashampoo :This burning application makes it easy to create and copy your own data DVDs and CDs, video CDs, audio CDs, and multisession DVDs or CDs. The features of Ashampoo Burning Studio 5 include drag-and-drop functionality for adding files directly from Windows Explorer, support for filenames of up to 256 characters for DVDs and 64 characters for CDs, verification of burned data, and burn-speed options. The program burns WAV, MP3, WMA, and Ogg Vorbis files directly to audio CDs without any plug-ins.
Other features include volume normalization for audio tracks; easy copying of audio and data CDs and DVDs; a DAO mode for data, video, and audio CDs; creation capabilities for MP3 and WMA DVDs or CDs; the loading and saving of project files; and the ability to erase CD-RWs, DVD-RWs, DVD+RWs, and DVD-RAMs. The program supports the following disc types: CD-R/RW, DVD-R/RW, DVD+R/RW, DVD-RAM, and double-layer DVD+R. A language editor for creating new language interfaces is included. Version 5.0.5 includes improved CD/DVD driver support, improved performance and compatibility, configurable news channel system for receiving news about Ashampoo, and integrated update function: the program can check for updates and installs automatically.

Pros: If you want a cd-burning software but Nero is to bulky for you, this is the best and most economic alternative. With a nice interface too. It's also very easy to use, and online support is very good. Even the included help file can answer almost all your questions. Besides, not everybody needs a WAV Editor or CD Cover Maker not unless you're really into burning, CD making, or WAV editing. If you only need a simple burner, get Ashampoo Burning Studio instead of Nero. But I have both Nero and Ashampoo, I alternate the use between them.

Pros: As a fan of Nero, I am actually quite suprized how many times I click on this program instead of the above mentioned when burning cds ect. That said Ashampoo offers a simplier interface and FASTER speed results as a whole - plus it's error protection options are great. As I have a dvd player that can play mpg files without the hassel of converting to vcd ect this program is truely the best for my burning needs.
Cons: Okay the one thing that does annoy me is you can't seem to drag the files up or down once you have selected them (unlike Nero) for viewing preferences (I just choose the correct order) - this said Ashampoo is faster and a perfect buddy for Nero.

"Problems with copying DVD:s."
Pros: Nice design and it copies CD:s, MP3:s and WMA:s very well.
Cons: I have a new HP laptop and a external DVD burner of the brand Benq. When I copy a DVD with this software and verifies it afterwards with this same software, I will get the message that the copy is no good (which is correct). No problems with other DVD copying software.

"basic burner/ simple to use / economic /reliable company"
Pros: simple to use studio 5 covers for reasonable cost an effective usage of burning both CD and DVD FORMAT covering both burning to video and dvd in most of the basic playable formats ,The program for beginers is an excellent starter burning suite ,carrying a check on all of the progams usage, so as to give correct usage at the correct format.It takes only avery short time to get the program up and working and as you gain experience ,it for basics does its work excellently . The company i find is very reliable offering support( if needed) and also a reasonably priced basic burning studio
Cons: It is a basic program, many for lots more money cover the broader and more detailed aspect of burning
