    "Itsagoody"

    Version: Art Files 0.9.2 (v20)

    Summary

for $25? not bad value in my book, will pay for itself after about 3 bits of packaging I think. I know people who make catalogues in AI, page by page; they're more patient than I, but this would be a godsend to them.

I like its simplicity, and it does what it says nicely.
No problems running it for me.

"Does what it's supposed to do, and well."

    Version: Art Files 0.9.2 (v20)

    Summary

This review was originally posted on VersionTracker.com.
I spoke too soon on the embedded graphics collection -- it's there and I just missed it in the preferences. Having discovered that and admitting that I have used this pretty frequently now in the last couple of weeks since first downloading it, I think I'm going to break my own rule and rate it prior to the 1.0 release.

Good app, needed on OS X, and does what it's supposed to do. It's missing the ability to process EPS files, which I would like. The Info drawer is open by default when you create a new collection (unless I've missed another preference) and that annoys me a little -- be nice if it was controlled by a preference. The speed improved with the second release, which just made this product more satisfactory.

I'm neutral on the price mostly because I'm willing to pay it for what this will do for me, but I wouldn't mind if it was less. I set the value on my own work, and I would never begrudge another that same choice. I will spend the money, but I suspect others will balk -- not sure why. The first couple of times I used this, it about paid for itself in time I didn't spend waiting for Classic to load (for Collect Pro), and now I can save AI files in v10 format by default (used to save to v8 specifically to be ready for Collect Pro). Money well spent for me.

    "Much Faster"

I'm happy to report that Code Line seems to have greatly improved the scan time performance of Art Files. Still seems a bit pricey at $25 bucks, but could be very useful for Illustrator users.

    "Nice idea, butâ?¦"

If you can put up with the fact that Art Files is painfully slow, you just might learn to love this utility. Perhaps when it's out of beta it might gain some speed, but currently I find its sluggishness too much to withstand. Did I say it's a great idea with lots of potential?
